What tax rate do you believe is appropriate?

Republicans always want lower taxes. Exactly what rate would be appropriate such that a lower rate would produce republican votes for higher taxes? Explain the government programs that would be cut to meet that level of taxes. If you are conservative and can't answer this question, you are a hypocrite.

Anyway, I think that a flat tax of 20% with no deductions would be appropriate and no programs would have to be cut.

Why no deductions? Because that is just another way for the government to dictate how you behave.

Controlling the tax rate is part of reacting to the economic cycle. A certain rate is not the correct one for all times. I believe right now we are very close to where we should be at the federal level though I believe to few in America pay taxes and therefore have no vested interest in America. I would change the tax code to ensure no one gets a free ride as the poor to lower middle class now does. There isn't a linkage between what programs need to be cut and which don't based on balancing the budge as you imply. Programs are either needed and constitutional or they are not needed and constitutional. As such I would get rid of every program that is not legal. I would begin with the Dept of ED. I would take steps to phase out government support of corporation and welfare programs. I would privatize the SSS one step at a time beginning with the youngest who are not even bought into it yet.

It depends on the economic situation at the time. I would say 30% is fair in most situations. However there may be times when a top marginal rate of 50% or higher is needed such as in a world war or a national emergency. The problem is what constitutes a national emergency. As far as economic growth the United States needs to compete on a global level as far a corporate taxes. I find that most liberals favor raising corporate taxes without considering the effect that it will have on our economy and how higher taxes on multinational corporations will contribute to chasing jobs out of the U.S. I also find our tax system to be terrible inefficient and junkie with all kinds of loop holes and catering to special interests. I am more in favor of a cleaner and fairer tax code like a Flat Tax to The Fair Tax. If we all paid a flat 25% tax rate economic growth would skyrocket and the individuals with the lowest incomes would make far more than they do now and could afford to actually pay taxes.

I don't believe anyone should have to pay a federal income tax personally, I believe that if everybody paid a state tax the state wouldn't need federal loans, for education, highways, agriculture, etc... The fed could get some money by taxing the state a flat rate of 20%..

National debt is at 11 trillion 1.4 trillion since Obama....7mnths people.

Any business in the U.S. that tried to spend it's way out of debt the owners would end up in prison. Why is Obama the exception? It will only get worse.

The sovereignty of every state should be protected, Big ideas doesn't need BIG government....

With the national income tax going to the states, they could conduct their own spending...

Even the poor states would prosper.

Income taxes should be eliminated. We need to abolish our current tax system to eliminate the constant corruption that stems from tax breaks and lobbying. There should be no tax breaks. Taxation should be equal. That means all those freeloading immigrants would start paying when we move to a national sales tax of about 22%. If we eliminate business taxes then all these companies might come back to America and we could all get real jobs instead of temporary Obama style jobs.

I would change Medicaid to include forced labor of 25 hours per week to maintain any assistance. That would kick off about 70% off the dole.

I would also try to pass a law stating that any military conflict cannot be entered into without raising taxes or cutting programs significantly.

I support a fair tax. It's better to tax people's purchases than tax their income. My second choice would be a flat tax with a 10% rate. Those making below poverty would be exempt from paying taxes under either system. The government programs that would be cut are those that are not working. Welfare would have to be dramatically overhauled. Limit a person to 6-months of welfare, after which, he or she will come off the government payroll and be the responsibility of private charity. Junk science programs could be cut. Do we really need horse psychologists? Also, medicaid could be overhauled and that alone would save billions annually. Doctors should be paid by the quality of care delievered, not in the number of patients they see. There are some areas in the space program that could withstand some cuts. Space exploration isn't producing enough to compensate its cost. According to the constitution, the only role that government is supposed to play in our lives is protecting our life, liberty, and property. There are thousands of ways the government is wasting money, mainly in junk science and research. Taxing purchases under the fair tax would offset the percentage lost in lower taxes because all of the illegal immigrants would then be paying their share of taxes. The flat tax would take out all loop-holes, simplify the tax system, and the IRS could be eliminated. Also, cuts could be made in the criminal justice sector. Repeat felons could be deported to the compassionate liberal/socialists countries out there who want them. Maybe some of the billions this would save could go to give raises to police officers. Also, labor unions could be abolished and companies would be reincentivized to build and hire here in the U.S., which would provice more jobs and increase the tax base while lowering inflation.

Most Federal government programs need to go.

The Constitution explains the powers granted to the Federal government all other powers are reserved to the states.

As for Federal taxes, if the Federal government was restricted to what is laid out it the Constitution, federal taxes could easily be reduced by 75% or more. Income taxes are regressive should be eliminated and a consumption tax put in place.

If everybody paid a flat rate tax of roughly 20 percent..with no refunds, there would be no deficits. It would cut way down on organizations within the government that are wasteful..such as the IRS. The problem that we face is that most of the country is financed by the upper 15% income earners, while the others collect much more back in returns than they pay in...

  • I think no more than 20% across the board. No income tax only a national sales tax on the products purchased. That way those who buy more expensive goods (the rich) pay more taxes.

Programs that should be cut are to numerous to mention. Lets just say Military, police, fire, EMS etc. should stay. Education, road maintenance, welfare programs, etc. should all be privatized.

The privet sector is more competent than the government and runs things much more smoothly.

Since there are countless kinds of taxes in America I need to know which tax you are asking about.

If you are asking about income taxes, then I want it abolished and replaced with a copnsumption tax. Income taxes punish achievement and doing that drags down the whole economy.

If you are a liberal who is against this idea you are a hypocrite.

    0.

The country should be run on tariffs and excise taxes only. At least at the Federal level.

But if you insist on an income tax, then 15% flat rate with no one under 25,000 dollars paying anything.

Cut most all social programs at the Federal Level. Leave those where they belong anyway at the State level.

Btw, if you do not tax those under $25,000 most social programs wouldn't be needed anyway.
