Ideas for(GM Autoworker/Pipefitter) Retirement Party ?

OK, sorry I posted this question a few days ago, and I could certainly use and appreciate any ideas for a Surprise car crazy hubby who will retire early with the buy-out but will officially retired, May 2010. Plan on inviting 150 guests. He owns a beautiful restored 65 GTO, and during the 30 yrs. he loved his job as much as his GTO. On our oter vehicle, the car tag reads "Generous Motors - I Love My Job". He never missed a day, and got along excellent with his co-workers. Any ideas for (food, decorations, games, gift ideas, photos, invitation,phrases/quote, slides, karaoke, music, (not 50's please) etc..ANYTHING on how to "get this party started" would be so appreciated! Must consider cost...Should I invited kids, if so, would it be tacky that they could share some fun for about 1-2 hours, then send them home - or just simply state "parents, please be responsible for your kids" there may be beer, no hard liquor. Just simply clean fun. Thanks again.

    Since you are having that many guests are you hiring a caterer? If so, the caterer may have some ideas for you. Browse a few party stores for ideas.

    You can't put "parents, please be responsible for your kids" on the invitation, and you can't say kids are welcome from 3 - 5. Have the kids or not. Seems like you aren't enthused about having kids there, so leave them off the invite so not to stress about it. A retirement party is generally an adult thing any way.

    What will your hubby plan to do after he retires? Will you be traveling or just puttering in the garden? Perhaps that could lead to a good party theme.

    I have seen really neat custom drink koozies at parties and given as party favors. I would suggest putting the company logo or have a pic of his car printed on the koozie and have it say Generous Motors- I love my job. My friend got hers at http://www.kustomkooziesonline.com/
