Dog has trouble controlling peeing?

There are a number of reasons why dogs have problems with inappropriate urination and in some cases defecation. Unfortunately most dog owners don't understand why the dog seems to pee everywhere and are unsure what to do. It can even happen to dogs that have been trained and housebroken. Unwanted urination is actually a very common problem that many dog owners face and is more common than most people would assume.

See the vet, take a urine sample with you. It may be an infection or crystals in the urine, or it may be that she simply relaxes her muscles too much when she's sleeping and can't control it. There's an inexpensive medication available if this is the case (Proin), and after some tinkering with dosing, it should work great for her. The growth spurt theory is creative, but it doesn't fly. She needs to be seen by a vet.

Your dog is old enough to understand about housebreaking and should be able to control her bladder. The fact that this has happened somewhat suddenly and only when sleeping or relaxed is an indication that something may be up with her bladder or kidneys. Please take her to a vet and have her checked out as soon as possible.

I would definitely get her checked out. sounds like it could be a kidney issue. Or possibly a bladder problem. I have never had a dog pee from a growth spurt. there is something amiss and you need to get her check out.

She might have a urinary tract infection or have developed incontinence issues. Take her to the vet. They can test a urine sample to see if she has a UTI and place her on antibiotics if she has one, or they can consider the possibility of incontinence as well (which can also be controlled with medication).

It is definitely not normal for a dog of that age and health to not be able to control her bowels.

Get her checked out by a vet.

this is NOT a housebreaking issue- it's a health issue.

I think it might be a UTI. Get her to the vet and get it checked out.
