My likes are: Law, Politics, Reading, My cats and Dog, cooking and home reno's. I love to keep busy...the closest I get to relaxing is being here, or watching Dscovery, TLC, CBC and the Food Network. My Dislikes are: Big Business, Far Right Wing Idealogies, doing nothing, and over consumption. Oh, and for some damn reason I am deathly afraid of birds.

  • Husband diagnosed with cerebral aneurism that hasn't ruptured. What can we expect?

My hubby's GP discovered a cerebral aneurism on an MRI. He was told he was being referred to a neurosurgeon for surgery. We haven't received a call yet for an intake appointment or surgery. What can we expect in terms of speediness, nature of surgery and the recovery time? Obviously at this point we have way more questions than answers and of course, my Hubby is quite worried.

  • Can a cat's testicles grow back after being neutered?

I swear my 8 month old kittens testicles grew back after his fix. I've heard this is possible, but never from any credible source.

Also, my husband is of the opinion that if he managed to grow them back, he deserves to keep them. He's an indoor cat and my females are fixed, so there is no problem there, but I am not sure I want a big tom cat in the house. What are your thoughts on re-fixing?

  • Causes for a dog being extremely itchy?

My 5 year old terrier/pug cross seems to have a sudden bout of extreme itchiness. He was up all night scratching and generally whining (not in pain whine, but irritated). I've got an appointment for the vet today, but not until too much later.

Any thoughts on the cause? He's not been to any strange places, dog parks or the vet lately. Although a friends puppy did just come over for a play date a couple days ago.

My initial thought was it was dry skin as it is VERY cold here and the furnace is always running, but the amount of discomfort he seems to be experiencing seems beyond that.

  • Does the "turkey baster" method really work?

You always hear about it, but is it actually a viable way to become pregnant. My husband had a vasectomy 10 years ago (first wife had health issues) and the chances of successfully reversing it are slim to none. I'm now 31 and tick tock is always playing in the back of my mind. Our dear friend has offered his sperm and I wonder if the "turkey baster" method is actually a viable plan. It sure would save a bunch of money that could be used for the child.

  • Interesting ways to spice up Sloppy Joes?

My hubby is dying for sloppy joes, so I promised him I'd make them tonight. Anyone have any interesting ways to make them not your normal run of the mill sloppy joes?

  • Woke up and my dogs eyes have turned milky over night?

I'm not talking a milky film either. It's like his actual eyes have gone from cute brown eyes to this milky bluey grey. They were completely fine yesterday. His sight doesn't seem to be affected and he seems totally normal aside from looking like he's trying out for a part in Twilight or something.

I've made a vet appointment for Monday, even the vet said she's no idea why that would happen so suddenly.

Anyone have any thought or experiences?

He's about 6 and a pug/terrier/Chihuahua mix who's normally healthy and up to date on all shots, heartworm, etc.

  • How do you maintain a backyard composter?

My mother-in-law gave me a composter for my back yard and set it up for me but didn't give me any further instruction.

Do you need to do anything to maintain it? Do you have to stir the contents every so often, or do you just throw your yard clippings and veg waste in there and it does it's own thing?

  • How to heat dim sum at home?

I went to an asian market and bought a bunch of frozen dim sum. (Sticky rice, steam pork buns(fresh, not frozen) and assorted dumplings to be exact). Problem is I got them home and realized that there are no heating instructions. Can anyone offer advice. I have a steamer, I'm just unsure if they are to be thawed or frozen and how long to cook them for?

    Any advice?

  • Is an abrupt change to your menstruation pattern/cycle a sign that something else could be wrong?

I am 30 with no children. My cycle has always been 27-29 days to the tee, lasting for 4 days. For the passed 6 months it’s been 21 days lasting 3 days.

  • What's the best way to cook deer steaks (wild)?

A friend of mine gave me wild deer steaks.

Any tips on the best methods of cooking or marinades? I've done elk before, is it similar? Also, it gets dark here at about 4:00, so something aside from grilling would be preferable.

  • Need a good/interesting potato side dish recipe.?

I am making dill and cucumber pork chops and need a good side potato dish but have run out of interesting ideas.

Any good recipes, preferably without too much fuss or a zillion ingredients as I really don't want to have to go to the store.

  • Dog has trouble controlling peeing?

I have a Austrailian Cattle Dog Cross. She's about 1 1/2 -2 years old, fixed and up to date with all shots. She seems healthy and happy.

The last few weeks though, I've been noticing that she doesn't control her peeing while she is sleeping or really relaxed. She has no problems controlling it any other time and was completely housebroken when we got her.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

My husband thinks she may be having a growth spurt and can't control it, just like a child...which makes sense, but I don't want to ignore some underlying problem...and I am getting sick of washing by bedding every second day....

  • Worlds best Lasagna Recipe?

My husband's birthday is tomorrow, and he wants a lasagna for dinner. Trouble is, I haven't made one in years. Anyone have a recipe for the worlds best?

He's not a picky eater, loves all veggies, meats, cheeses and sauces, although I would like to stick to a relatively traditional one.

  • Interesting Salmon Recipes for dinner tonight?

I have some salmon fillets (skinless) that I would like to prepare for dinner tonight, but the only way I have ever really prepared them is either lemon-pepper or garlic flavoured. I'm in the mood for something different!

Some suggestions would be great! I have a well stocked fridge, freezer and pantry and there is a good store just across the lane!

Please don't refer me to a recipe site!! If I wanted to check recipes.com, I would do that, I am asking here...(Sorry, pet peeve of mine!)
