39wks, bloody discharge?

I had my dr's apt yesterday, and im 39wks6days. almost 3 Cm's dilated and about 60% effaced. She did another sweep and since then, ive been having lots of lower abdominal cramping and a lot of bloody mucus-like discharge. Its dark brown looking. Is this my bloody show? Because ive been steadily losing lots of mucus since about 37wks. Im due on Saturday so i hope this means i dont have long to wait. Any advice? And yes, i know, every woman and pregnancy is different. Just a stressed out M2B who's tired of being pregnant.

Its either your bloody show or just simply some bleeding associated with the exam/sweep. If its the bloody show, labor is just around the corner. If its the latter, its completely normal but is not a sign of labor. Considering your dilated to 3, cramping and 60% effaced though (along with the fact that the did a sweep), I'm gonna lean towards bloody show. HANG IN THERE and Good Luck!

I JUST went through this on Tuesday! I was 38wks, 4 days on Tues., had my membranes swept at 2:10pm. By the time I left my doc at 2:40, contractions started. I was dialated to 3 1/2 almost 4 and 85% effaced. at 4:15pm, I started bleeding bright red period blood with mucus. I called the doc and she said wait and if i have 6 contractions within an hour, call back. i waited. the first hr, i had 5, second hr i had 7 then the third hr i had 6. so i called. They sent me to the hospital. I got checked, by then i was still bleeding but it was brownish and not as heavy. They sent me home because i was not contracting enough to stay! So, My advice to you would be call, let your doc know whats going on and watch for heavier bleeding (bright red) and contractions. I dont think its your bloody show, its just from the exam! I was SOO hoping to have my son 2 nights ago, but so far, my contractions havent came back!! But, Good luck and I hope I helped!

I would say from here on out just take it easy.

Could very well be "bloody show"

If it gets bright red and heavier then I would say go to the hospital.

    Good luck <3

if its associated with mucous I would say with extreme confidence that it's your bloody show..Just walk walk walk and before too long if your cramps get worse, you'll know what's going on. Good luck and i hope you have a safe and quick delivery!
