I would stick with either a Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla or Mazda 3.
And make sure you have it inspected by a certified, independent mechanic if you are buying a used one with no warranty.

Go for a Japanese car, they are the kings of the small car market. Toyota and Honda are the two best and what ever you do don't get anything European, they are all trouble.

I agree. Honda Civics will last forever, have great gas mileage and hardly any maintenance, and are pretty tough in wrecks.
