Why do you think Gov. Sara Palin stepped down today?

It may be that she sees the Troopergate thing turning sour in the near future, and she wants to get out before it does.

Or she may have been overwhelmed by everything -- the scandals great and small, the difficult job of running a state facing a budget crisis, the national spotlight (remember she was still relative anonymous less than a year ago).

Either way, it is stunning. It would be one thing for her to say that she would not seek re-election next year -- that would've been a normal precursor to a run for the presidency.

But to resign? HUGE -- and she's basically ending her political career.

The more I think about it, the more certain I am that there's a Part II to this story, and I eager to see what it turns out to be.

She is the most hated women in the country. She has ruined things for her 14 year old daughter who is probably made fun of so bad a school cause she acted like sex at 14 was rape. To be 14 & seen this way is sick. She has done so much she should be the poster child for what stupidity does. She is going to self-destruct. I hate to see that happen to anyone but she is one of the most arrogant people I have seen. The republican leaders hate her cause she is ruining their party even though the 11% of the country thinks she is HOT. She was forced out by the party and or by the reporters who can destroy her.

She just wants to focus on her run for the White House in 2012.

because she says that she want to do something for her country. I dont know really. I think she might try to run for the Senate or for president in 2012. But I think she wont go that far.

Fascinating, considering she's the darling of the far right.

My bet is there's something behind it that we don't know about.

She'll say it's family related, but I believe there's a scandal somewhere in the offing.

Maybe all the pressure of having so much power and the disappointment of losing the election got to her. Or there could be some personal reason we're not aware of. I dunno, I've never been into politics so I'm just guessing.
