does anyone know anyone affected with autism ?

Yes I see it on occasion. From my point of view Autism and ASD is obviously difficult to treat and their are many varying levels of it from patient to patient.

Pharmacologically it is treated with Stimulants, Antidepressants, and Anti-Psychotics. None of which I approve of.

There is also ALOT of alternative medicine treatments which have no scientific backing and I won't comment on them as there are so many and I know little of them.

I think sound, psychological based therapy is the best treatment. Therapy in education, in socialization skills, in speech, work place, and so on. The earlier this treatment is started the better outcomes I've seen. Though it is never too late to start trying to help.

Outcomes: If the level of ASD is low, a near 100% functional level is achieved,.. if full blown autistic small strides in function and social environments is about all you can realistically hope for. If more come, then be thankful. It is a difficult disorder, and no medication offers any hope at this moment being a brain developmental disorder. Hopefully the future holds more.
