Leaving open stuff in the freezer?

is it okay to leave like a drink that is in a cup but not wrapping it or putting a top on it?

I usually put drinks in the freezer to make like a popsicle but i never wrap it

then my mom threw out the drink cause she thinks that if something that is in the freezer that isnt wrapped bacteria will get in .... is this true?

Yes, It will be fine to leave anything uncovered in the freezer. Bacteria growth only occurs between temperatures of 41-135F also known as the danger zone. Freezing your drink at a 32F or below will prevent the growth of bacteria.

Other than freezer burn occurring there will be absolutely no bacteria found in your drink.

Sorry but your mom is kind of stupid. Not very many bacteria can live frozen - that's why we freeze foods - to preserve them. Uncovered food can get freezer burn and that diminishes the quality and flavor of the food but it won't make you sick.
