How old do you have to be to get a tattoo in NYS?

Can you still be 16 in NYS and get a tattoo with parental consent?

Because I'm planning on getting one [my parent's say it is okay as long as I pass my AP course with a B or higher. I had a rough start to the year so we made that deal blah blah blah]

If I can't get one here, what other states can I go to?

I just want to hear [see?] them so I can make a decision on whether or not I still want to wait until I am of "legal age" so it is less dangerous for me.

Please and thank you very much :)

Update:

Thank you for being so descriptive. I think you over did it a little bit!

You have to be 18 to get a tattoo. The bright side, at least when you are 18 you don't have to worry about getting parent permission.

I'm pretty sure 16 is ok with parental consent. :) If not, try New Jersey!
