Is something wrong with my Chihuahua?

I have a 10 week old Chihuahua pup. He's usually pretty active and eats a lot. Today however, it seems all he wants to do is sleep, and he isn't interested in eating. Is something wrong with him or is he just having a lazy day?

dont worry to much about it for today mine is doing the same, if he played a ton outside the previous day he may just be exhausted plus i called my vet because i was a little concerned and she said that sometimes it can be due to the puppys growth because he is so little however if this continues on tomorrow also take him to the vet because he could have came down with a virus or a cold

Typically puppies don't have lazy days. I would take your pup in and get him checked just to be sure. Even if he has been getting his shots he could have picked something up. I had the same thing happen to my german shepherd pup when he was 11 weeks. He just started acting lethargic and would not eat. I called the vet and ended up taking him in. Good thing I did because he tested positive for parvo even though he had already gotten two sets of shots and was getting his 3rd in just a few day. He was treated for parvo and survived because it was caught early. So just to be sure take him and and get him checked. I later learned that the whole litter of pups mine came from ended up having parvo and mine was the only one to survive because I took him in before the really bad symptoms started. Best of luck with your pup and I truly hope he is just having an off day that it is not anything serious.

I have a Chihuahua. There are a few things that it could be. They are tired or stressed. They can in fact get headaches. My dog will suck up water through her nose and will sleep for a day then the next day eat and be back to normal. Orr he could have an upset stomach. Hope this helps. ♥

Sometimes dogs can have a bad day too. Maybe he's just feeling a little tired today or perhaps he exercised too much yesterday and is resting up. Wait for a day if by tomorrow he's still tired and doesn't want to do anything then it's time for the vet to help!

ANY change in behavior or eating habits warrants a trip to the vet in my opinion. Small dogs can't go very long without eating before they become hypoglycemic, which can be fatal. If you don't want to take him to a vet, then all you can do is watch his behavior carefully & try to get him to eat & drink

if he is not active or eating in a day or so then take to the vet

other wise leave him for now & let him rest

he may of ate something that upset his tummy

If he has been very active recently, he might just be tired.

If his temperature is above 102.5, it might just be a fever.

If it is more than 104, call your vet.

He might be overstuffed(as in eating)

Try to feed him small amounts of food every 2 hours

It might also be stomach bloating, look to see if stomach is overstretched, if yes, call doctor immediately.

    Good Luck.

TAKE THE DOG'S TEMPERATURE: Begin by taking the dog's temperature rectally. A dog's normal temperature will be between 100.5 and 102.5 degrees. Due to the natural variation in normal body temperature, take your dog's temperature when he's well to get an idea of his baseline temperature.

Puppies do not just have a lazy day. If he is not better by tomorrow, take him to the vet.

I don't think so. They can really wear themselves out. As long as he appears healthy otherwise. You have days when you are extra tired.
