Does anyone out there have a Doggie Dooley?
I have a problem not agreeing with my neighbors and my b/f where to dispose of my dogs poop. My neighbors are complaining that i put my dog poop in a trash can designated dog poop only because they say they can see the can when they look out the window...I feel like throwing dog poop all over...no i gotta stop lol. Anyway. Ive been researching the doggie dooley and wondered about anyones experiance with it. Does it work, did you have installation problems, anything go wrong? Any info at all would be appreciated. Oh an where did you buy it? I dont wanna spend $60 on something that might not work good.
See Ive tried putting it in my reg trash but even with lysol it stinks in there. I have like a little bucket with a citrus smelly thing in the bottom, a store grocery bag on top of it and the poop goes inside that. My neighbors complain if i leave the poop on my lawn any longer than it takes me to walk back to the house to get hte pooper scooper. They are not complaining about smell or anything, they are just complaining they can see the red trash bucket. There isnt anywhere else for me to put it. NOw my land lords told me i have to bring the poop inside and flush it in my toilet. Are you kidding me. my toilets 3 floors up. Thats gross. They also said im not allowed to actually let her poop on the grass, shes to go on the sidewalk and pick it up because even if i pick it up out of the grass it still leaves a mark there according to them . anyway i found the dooley for $30 and i wanna get it but my b/f is skeptical

I've used the homemade version of one of these (http://homepage.mac.com/cityfarmer/PhotoAlbum22.ht... ). It worked well enough. I used gardening lime to help it decompose (much less expensive than their "enzyme").

I pick it up immediately with a plastic bag that wraps newspapers, and put it in a big bag with regular trash. So it's double bagged. And if the trash men saw what was i n there, I think they would have the right to refuse to collect it. So a bag, in another trash filled bag.
It's only twice a day, so it's no big deal. And don't let it sit until it's dry! It draws sooooo many flies. Some of my foster dogs learn very quickly, when I take them on poop walks, to ignore the fact that I've just placed a bag right under their tails!
Yep, Poop In A Bag. No Mess, No Bother, Just Strange Looks.

They can see the can when they look out the window? Tell them not to look out the window. Sorry you have oddball neighbors, do as the person above me said, pick up the poop when it's dry using a doggy bag (or since its your yard, just a plastic grocery bag would work), tie it up, and use lysol to keep it at bay until it's picked up.
The doggie dooley is 89.95, scooper, 1 year of enzymes, and shipping included. It sounds interesting, but I couldn't see myself spending so much on what ultimately does the same thing as tossing it out.

Believe it or not, this contraption has been around a mighty long time. We had one over 30 years ago! While I will say it did work (if my old memory serves me correctly), I believe the chemicals you had to use were not cheap! I'm sure that it has improved over the last 3 decades but I wouldn't buy one again. Sorry, I'm sticking with the good old sh*t can! (my neighbors can't see my poop can, where I have it)

pick it up when it gets dry. Put it ina a plastic bag (like a store bag)
Put it in the regular trash, and spray often with Lysol or some other disinfectant to keep flies/ maggots at bay. No separate can, that's overkill.

I got mine off of Amazon.
Installation is easy, yes, you should have a post hole digger because the hole needs to be exactly round. Try to find a flat place to install it in your yard or make a flat place for it to go.
The set up is easy, if there weren't so many stinking rocks in my yard installation would have been a snap. It doesn't smell bad, it's easy to maintain. BUT you have to use it or you have to restart the whole thing all over again. I can't get my husband to use it. *sigh*
