How to get a movie released on DVD?

There are a few movies I would love to see on DVD but have not been released yet. One is A Hatful of Rain from 1957 or 58. The other is the Kojak pilot from the 1970's. Is there a way to contact the studio and ask? Or, what is the process and who decides what gets released and when?

Well, there are a couple ways... If the movies have not been released on DVD ever, it may be difficult, but you could always get utorrent, available at utorrent.com and download the movie off of torrentpond.com I use that site to download movies all the time. Then you use DVD burning software and burn the movie onto DVD. It sounds complicated but it's not. Just my .02.

I'm pretty certain DVDs came out in 1997, but didn't catch on until 2000. I know in my collection, there are a couple movies like "The Cable Guy" and "A League Of Their Own" that have very primitive menus and special features, not to mention a commercial at the beginning of each that advertises the DVD format showing only about 6 or 7 movies. My guess is that these were the first DVD movies released in the U.S.
