Christian moms and grandmoms.........?
Could you recommend a good book for me to give to my 13, soon to be 14 granddaughter. She is all caught up in 'not looking pretty', altho she is very pretty, and in peer pressure of the wrong kind, being unkind to her parents (she is an only child), and generally mixed up regarding the true values of our lives. Any suggestions ? She listens to me, and accepts the words I say to her, but a good book would just reinforce the values I am trying to teach her. Thanx !

Here's a book my mom gave to my daughters. Though they were 5 and 8 at the time... (now 6 and 9)
You might think it's too "young" for your 13 year old, but you'd be amazed at the impact it will have on her - and she needs this considering what 13 and 14 year olds are exposed to today.
Here's the website:

For girls: The Princess and the Kiss
For boys: The Squire and the Scroll (my son is 5 years old now and that is NOT too young to start explaining things) He has this book.

CeCe Winans has an awesome book, " Always Sisters" This book addresses a lot of those issues that you are concerned about. There is an accompanying cd, and a workbook/ journal. This is something that I highly recommend. God Bless.

"In Search of Holiness" is a wonderful book for all young people, especially girls, who you would like to see living for the LORD. For born-again Christians it explains & reinforces separation from sin & the world & dedication to God & His will. That is, after all, what we want for our children, right?
Holy living is not taught in most homes. This book explains w/ scripture what is pleasing to God & how to live a life pleasing to God. this book will help her live a life that will save her a lot of heartbreak through making the wrong choices. it shows her what the LORD expects of us & why it is important.
she is blessed to have a loving, caring grandma such as yourself in her life.

I like that you care about your daughter's soul : )
One of my friends suggested "Lies Young Women Believe".
I like to watch the "Love Comes Softly" Hallmark movies based on the Annie Oakley (I think that's the author's name) books.
"Fire Proof" is for marital problems, but it might help.
Obviously the Bible would be a good read lol.
I hope that helps some!

"Captivating" By John and Stasi Eldredge
Unveiling the mystery of a woman's soul.
"Your heart matters more than anything else in all creation. The desires you had as a little girl and the longings you still feel as a woman---they are telling you of the life God created you to live. He offers to come now as the Hero of your story, to rescue your heart and release you to live as a fully alive and feminine woman. A woman who is truly captivating."
I gave this book to my daughter. It is never too early to come to know the Lord and His purpose for us. This is a gentle book. A way to learn and accept oneself for who we are.

"Captivating," if she's ready for a nonfiction book for young adults. it may be a little mature for her reading preferences, but it's all about capturing the essence of feminine beauty--spiritually and otherwise.
