Michael Jackson Memorial at Staples cost $4mil...?

and they are asking fans to 'helo pay for it'.

What do you think of this?

My feelings are perhaps the many big name celebs that attended yesterday could open the wallets and cover it. 4 million in celebrity dollars in a drop in the bucket.

Update:

That would be "helP pay for it" lol

Update 2:

wow... my grammar sucks today! sry... ;)

Update 3:

MJLover - there is some website associated with the memorial that is taking donations... it was on the news last night.

Update 4:

Holy rant, Nudge... maybe you should just move!

I think that the bill will probably go to the Jackson estate. It only seems fair, and I doubt that the family will contest. Don't funeral costs usually get attached to the estate of the deceased? I'm not sure.

The City of Los Angeles is grossly mismanaged. In fact, the entire state is grossly mismanaged. We pay VERY high taxes to compensate for all the waste. It's sad, silly and reprehensible that the state is bankrupt. There is absolutely no reason for it. The Governator volunteers. In case you didn't know, he donates his paychecks back to the state. He doesn't earn enough money as governor to have that money fix any problems, but it's a nice note worth mentioning.

Any time a state or local government has no money at all, it needs to take a good, strong look at itself. The problems are always, always, always to be blamed on stupid use of funds and waste.

The State will not be getting another penny out of me. Why should the "big name celebs" open up their wallets? They did cause the bankruptcy either. It is not their fault, nor their problem. If they want to donate to a worthwhile cause, it would hardly be to compensate for the fraud, waste and abuse throughout California.

The family should only be held accountable if the family planned and executed the event. In fact, most of the family probably wanted to keep the affair private, and only agreed to the public memorial as a courtesy to the fans and the world who loved him so much. They should not be stuck with the bill if it was not their idea, nor if it was not discussed ahead of time.

I don't know why the celebrities didn't donate, they have the most money. Geez, some of the fans could probably never afford to go to one concerts. I find that it would have been the decent thing for the celebs or people who could donate to do so. If something like a memorial needs funding, that is a worthy enough cause to donate to especially if you went to it.

The family should be accountable for it just like any other funeral service/memorial.
