20 years old movie, desert, black box with a door, underground civilization, robot?
About 17-20 years ago or so a movie came out. The only scenes that I can remember about it is that it starts in a desert type scene and a man finds some sort of black box with a door on it, he enters the door and finds himself in an underground civilization.
The other part that I remember is that a man, who looks just like a farmer, is chasing him while there is a festival or something going on and he shoots at him but the guy is like a robot or something because the bullets bounce off of him and spark when they hit him.
I have racked my brain trying to think of the title or something that would remind me of it but with no luck. Please, pleaser help me find the movie I'm talking about.

A Boy and His Dog (1975)

IMDb synopsis:
A post-apocalyptic tale based on a novella by Harlan Ellison. A boy communicates telepathically with his dog as they scavenge for food and sex, and they stumble into an underground society where the old society is preserved. The daughter of one of the leaders of the community seduces and lures him below, where the citizens have become unable to reproduce because of being underground so long. They use him for impregnation purposes then plan to be rid of him.
