  • Help with my SpecTacuLaR Dream?

I went to my backyard and thought, Oh I haven't seen this before, I'll go explore for a walk.

It was sandy and on the beach, a beautiful expanse with a great view of costal cliffs ahead.

A huge explosion on top of the cliff a mile or two, or 2 kilometres or more away, was followed by a huge plume of thick grey smoke with, to my unseeable horror, at least one dark distant human body jetting up a fantastic distance vertically into the sky wiggling limbs all the way. It struck me with lightning horror,

(I can't remember, but hope to hell the sound was delayed by distance, unlike all movies, TV shows, and even darn documentares, which shatter reality.)

A shower of grey boulders of all sizes exploded up into the sky and, in the grimace of a mouth, expanded their threat to where I was. So I ran.

I just cleared their landing zone.

  • can beer yeast ferment only half the sugars?

Yeast may have been too old.

At 22 C it fermented slowly for upto 2 days only, popping every 5 seconds or so.

I will take Final Gravity reading before bottling to estimate if all sugar is fermented, but wonder if adding a new yeast may be necessary.

  • What movie late 70's early 80's. Floating spheres, UFOs, detectives?

(This isn't me, but someone else.)

The movie I'm looking for was released around the mid to late seventies, probably very early 80's. I've been searching for it for years.

I watched it as a little kid when it came out on cable TV in the 80's.

Around six or seven years ago, I saw a little part of it on the sci-fi channel, but never got the title. Also I don't know any of the actor's names nor any more information about the movie. But I know it exists!

I have very, very vague memories of it, but I can remember some elements about the movie.

Floating spheres (probably someone or something inside of them), UFO's, and detectives.

A few weeks ago, I was watching Network; somehow watching Beatrice Straight's performance gave me a familiar feeling that she was in my "lost" movie. So I searched her filmography and the only movie that has a similiar profile as the movie I'm looking for is The World of Darkness, but unfortunately there isn't much information about the movie. Also, it COULD be that I'm confusing this because she's also in Poltergeist.

The reason I mention this is that I'm almost certain that in my "lost" movie there's a scene of her with a floating sphere in front of her, she's crying and the floating sphere says "Mommy?...Mommy?"; very eerie, at least it was for me. BUT, there's a similiarity with Poltergeist in a scene where Caroline says the same line... I could be mixing both movies. BUT I know for a fact that the scene exists in the film I'm looking for, just not 100% sure it's Beatrice Straight.

The only other movie I've found that's somewhat similiar to the the floating spheres is Strange Invaders, but it's not the one I'm looking for. I had high hopes for that one, but that's the ONLY element similiar to the one I'm looking for.

    Discarded Movies:

    Strange Invaders

    Communion

    Wavelength

    The Prisoner

    Lifeforce

    Batteries not Included

    Phantasm

    Glitterball

    Solarbabies

    Brainstorm

    They Live

    Amityville 3D

    Any help welcome!

  • I had the worst nightmare ever, of a nightmare world?

The world was completely different to what it should be.

There were extremes of weather, not always nice like it usually is. Sometimes so bad it even killed people. Sometimes the actual ground would shake in random places and times, destroying buildings and killing more people.

The worst thing was that people could be hurt, both physically and mentally. Their bodies could break, and go through all degrees of pain, even blood leak out. Their emotions could be hurt horribly with as much pain, and people could change like the weather. But worst of all, people's lives could end! It was terrifying, and actually accepted as normal. But before that, they gradually turned into monsters that still looked like their former selves. Horrible..

There were these things people caught that made their bodies go crazy in a thousand different nightmarish ways almost too horrible to even say, and it was insane because mostly they were invisible things. These things also killed millions of people.

Their own bodies would eat them, their own hearts somehow attack them and maybe kill them, their brains turn against them and paralyze them, or sometimes make them insane or rob their identity. Any organ could just turn against its owner in some insidious way.

In fact I don't think there was one thing that COULDN'T go wrong with people.

People weren't happy, and didn't even know the purpose of life. They just existed, as some kind of slaves.

    Some people deliberately killed people.

Worse, sometimes whole countries tried to kill other countries, with giant explosions and metal monsters of ground and air.

This was the worst nightmare I've ever had. What the hell could it mean?

  • WHAT MOVIE: A young boy rescues his grandfather from a nursing home?

    {Someone else wrote this}

    Made before 1990.

A young boy rescues his grandfather from a nursing home and they go on the lamb. I remember little more than that other than it must have come out around the same time as Rambo 2, Stand By Me, and Life Force.

I may not remember right but it seems like they may have been in the desert. The boys father (the grandfathers son) was searching for them and my memory is hazy but i seem to remember horses and a six shooter.

  • WHAT MOVIE? Two guys set up this "killing competition." Two of the killers are trying to kill the same mark.?

Two guys set up this "killing competition" where a big group of people have to kill their marks, and two of the killers are trying to kill the same mark? One killer has to kill the other so they can get credit for the kill of the mark.

Then the last one standing is the winner, and the winner is a girl and she drives a WHITE motorcycle. So she's all happy and excited (I don't know what the winner was supposed to win), but then the two guys that created the game/competition kill her with cement shoes off a dock.

I think its a movie from the 90's.

  • What Horror Movie, last 10 years, characters kill themselves?

About a family, I think one of their children had just died and they move to a house in the woods.

There was something about the wife and a camera? I think she kept taking pictures and her dead child kept showing up in the pictures.

There was an old abandoned mental asylum near by.

Everyone who lived in the house before them had killed themselves.

And it turned out that a ghost or something from the mental asylum was making everyone kill themselves. There ghosts son was also always hanging around the house. He was either a cop or a news reporter or something?

  • What's the name of that movie with a writer, and whatever he writes comes true?

Not The Dark Half, Ink Heart, Delirious, Stranger Than Fiction, In The Mouth of Madness, the Cool World.

It's an english spoken movie, and not a comedy.

It's from the 80s or 90s probably, and i think if it's not one of Stephen King's.

It's a movie, not an episode of a show or series.

  • 90's UFO Movie with teenagers and a yellow school bus.?

    UFO Movie

In the 1990s on Entertainment Tonight there was a segment about a new UFO movie.

The movie is about a group of teenagers who come to the same place every year for some reason. It involves a yellow school bus. They showed a road that went over a hill in the distance and a bright light coming over the hill although you just see the shine of the light.

    It's not

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind

    Invaders From Mars

    The Faculty

    Fire in the Sky

    Laserhawk

That's all I remember about the film.

  • old man with birdclaw arm?

    Posted by gavriloprinciple on IMDB

    ---------------------------------------------------

Hi, I have a tough one here:

I'd like to find out the name of the TV show or film my wife saw on TV as a little child. So it has to be at least 25 years old. She only remembers one scene where there is an old man chained to the bed. The bed lies on an island (probably mediterranean) among the ruins. Man has a birdclaw instead of other hand and he is chained to the bed from it. This is all that she recalls and it still freaks her out ;)

The scene happens in full daylight. I've tried to google it many times but with no luck.

  • What movie, biblical character, slave. The title was his name.?

    Posted by shortsntee on IMDB

    ----------------------------------------------------------

I saw this movie on TV when I was very young-in the mid to late 70's I believe. I really don't know much about it at all. I think the movie title was the main character's name. The main character was a man, with long hair-he looked like a biblical character and it seemed to be set in biblical times, but I really don't think it was a biblical character.

The man was a slave, he was white, and had long hair and probably a beard. I think he escaped his slavery. I remember one part in which he and the other slaves were working this round thing that hung from above, they had to turn it by having a part of it on their shoulders. I think toward the end of the movie the man was in the middle of a town with a lot of people around and almost got re-caught, but he got away, maybe by going underground. I know it is not much to go on at all, and I really do think the title was his name-if anyone could help I would be so happy because i have been trying to remember this for about 20 years, yeah

Ten Commandments (1956), starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brunner

Ben-Hur (1959), also starring Charlton Heston

    The Bible (1966)

I really don't think it is any of these....I think the name of the man was at least a three syllable name. I wish I could remember more.

    ______________________________________

I don't think it's Spartacus because the guy has long hair and a beard( i think) He looks worn and dirty. And I don't think it's Barrabas-but I can't actually be sure because I couldn't find a movie by that name except from 1919 and there weren't any pictures. It definitely was more biblical like(times) but I really don't think it was a biblical character-I don't remember any swords or Hercules type stuff. thanks for trying it is still driving me crazy!!

  • Harpy-like large monster, wings torn with holes?

    Posted by lostboy87 on IMDB

I once saw a a clip of a film on kids weekend morning show in the uk back in the mid to late 80s,i think presenters were reviewing it as a new video release.

All i remember is a large winged monster in the clearing of a forrest flapping its wings slowly. This was live action and not animation. The thing i remember about the monster the most is that its wings were torn and had holes in them (they were quite large wings,as was the monster)

To this day im still sure they called the film Harpy, the Harpy or harpie but have never been able to find anything anywhere about it.

Im almost positive that this was an 80s but dont know where the film was made but it would have been a english speaking film.

I have put this up on here for the last few years now but have never had any look.Once i find out what this was i will be so happy and my torture will end.

This was not Q the winged serpant, jabbawocky, harpya or dragonslayer.

Even if anyone just recognises the monster by my description and it was in another film then let me know that too.

Thanks for reading this and please help,i swear i will pay £10 to the first person to find this for me.

  • What movie with a love letter received 5 years late.?

(Someone posted this on IMDB, got no response. See if Youhoo can answer)

I think that one of the characters of the movie was telling a story.

It was about a young guy who was in love with some girl. He sends her a letter in which he writes that he wants to meet with her at a cafeteria on let's say Monday.

Unfortunately he used too much glue and the letter stuck to the letterbox, and for many years she didn't get it.

One day she decided to replace or clean the letterbox and she found that old letter. She went to that cafeteria, just to see it, and he was there.

It turned out that he came to that cafeteria every Monday for many years and he always brought a rose to give her.

    {Sigh deeply here}

Some details may be different; I don't remember it very well.

  • 20 years old movie, desert, black box with a door, underground civilization, robot?

About 17-20 years ago or so a movie came out. The only scenes that I can remember about it is that it starts in a desert type scene and a man finds some sort of black box with a door on it, he enters the door and finds himself in an underground civilization.

The other part that I remember is that a man, who looks just like a farmer, is chasing him while there is a festival or something going on and he shoots at him but the guy is like a robot or something because the bullets bounce off of him and spark when they hit him.

I have racked my brain trying to think of the title or something that would remind me of it but with no luck. Please, pleaser help me find the movie I'm talking about.

  • Psychological Thriller About Recurring Dreams?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend wants me to see a movie but he can't remember the title or much about it. This is all he remembers:

    1. The movie was possibly released 1990-1995

    2. A man has recurring dreams that begin to make him think he's going crazy.

    3. In the dreams his wife often appears unexpectedly wanting to kill him (for instance he dreams he's seeing a therapist and when the therapist turns around it's his wife holding a gun on him).

    4. The man worries if he dies in his dream, is it real?

    5. In the end, he shoots himself in his dream to wake up, but turns out he was not dreaming (he was awake) and kills himself.

  • What is this movie with multiple humanoid sea monsters?

    (On behalf of someone else)

I saw a colorized (I think it was colorized, it has been a very long time, sorry) movie on T.V. many years back (60's - 80's movie approx), and I just cannot put a name to it, but all I remember is a fiery monster at a dock.

The monster looked like a combination between some sort of aquatic creature and a human (it is not "Octaman"), but I might be way off. Anyway, all I remember is if I remember correctly, two monsters clashed with each other at a dock, or the monster tried to commit suicide by using its arms to choke itself.

However, there were other beasts too, which I think lurked beneath the monster, so I think the monster was potentially clashing with another. One looked like a cat, and the other maybe a shark. I also remember someone putting the monster in a net, or either tried to put in some sort of device to put it back on the dock.

There were also piles of papers, or what looked like paper, surfaced on on top of the water.

Additionally, the monster has a Frankenstein monster shaped head, King Kong like nostrils, one or maybe three big exposing teeth, and a fish-like mouth; it also had smoke coming out of its nostrils, I think.

Now, I cannot remember much else of the movie, unfortunately, but I think the part was very dark until light shined though exposing the monster, and I cannot remember if the monster was inside or outside, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was outside.

  • Fantasy/adventure movie about a magic black ball?

It's a fantasy/adventure movie of the 80s-or possibly early 90s-and is something about two competing groups of people in pursuit of a black ball (the size of a bowling ball) that has some magical or mystical power to it.

Towards the end there's a confrontation between the two rival groups in a well-lit cavern or gorge, or something of the like. Someone rubs the ball the wrong way and, consequently, it precipitates an devastating earthquake, and the whole structure collapses as in the climaxes of many other movies.

I believe there was some evil character who was immobile, being rolled around in a wheelchair by a woman partner. He was dressed in black-and may have even bled black-and needed the special ball for healing. There was also a scene, midway, where someone got caught in quicksand and slowly sunk all the way through it.

  • What is this movie about an evil twin?

Someone posted this Question 2 years ago - still not solved:

I'm asking again not cos' this film was ANY good but only because I'm amazed no one has guessed it. It was an early nineties film, maaaaybe tv episode, that I watched when I was 3, so - lol - very hazy on the details. Anyway, man lives with wife and kid - looks like a geek with a grundgy shirt and thick glasses. All is seemingly well When - dum-dum-duuuum - his evil twin shows up (either that or someone cloned him, or got an operation to look like him). Anyway, then comes the show-down, they're fighting eachother around the house, smashing the place to bits, the wife and kid screaming (Big help they were), then they move on to the roof (I know - gripping stuff, aren't you sorry you have a life and missed this?) and one of them pushes the other off to his death. Ta-daah! Happy days! It would seem... BUT - and here's the catch - WE DON'T KNOW WHICH GUY WAS THE BADDIE - THE DEAD ONE OR THE LIVING BREATHING ONE! Because - and you may recall this - they look IDENTICAL. Ok, ok, I'm getting overexcited. Right at the end, right at the veeery end - we find out - it was...wait for it... the BAD nerd who survived! Because he did this coin trick that only bad guys in films do. Anyway, I hope this chilling tale ruins your night and meanwhile, while you're awake from the trauma, maybe you could drop me a line and tell me - WHAT THE HELL THIS FILM IS CALLED.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. Biscuit
