old man with birdclaw arm?

Hi, I have a tough one here:
I'd like to find out the name of the TV show or film my wife saw on TV as a little child. So it has to be at least 25 years old. She only remembers one scene where there is an old man chained to the bed. The bed lies on an island (probably mediterranean) among the ruins. Man has a birdclaw instead of other hand and he is chained to the bed from it. This is all that she recalls and it still freaks her out ;)
The scene happens in full daylight. I've tried to google it many times but with no luck.

Sounds like the Island of Dr. Moreau. Written by H.G Wells and first released in 1977, the story is about a doctor living on an island who finds a way to alter DNA and turn animals into humans. It was also remade in 1996.
