Monogamy, Polygamy, Polyandry, Group marriage when colonizing another planet?

I think I'm swaying more towards polygamy.

With polyandry, only one female at a time could be pregnant in each family.

With a group marriage, which originally sounded good to me, I believe emotions would interfere and the plan would not work out. The men and women may eventually start to favor one person or group together as individual couples or small groups of three, maybe four.

With polygamy, all the women would be at the foot of this one man. They would not be able to choose, it would just be important for them to hurry up and populate. Choice always gets in the way.

I feel like I should probably mention that I definitely do not agree with any of the three of these, and I think the best way to populate a planet would be sending several different fertile couples to this planet with the mission of population. It would be the same concept as a group marriage, only the people would already have their partners. Of course, I can't see why we would have the need to populate a planet quickly, but I'm guessing you're just curious. Very interesting question, indeed!

Any society with the resources to colonize space would be sufficiently advanced to be easily able to care for the most vulnerable members of its society.

Polygamy is a last resort for completely dysfunctional communities.

When in one community some sisters are in monogamy and some in polygamy, the ones in monogamy produce more children.

Polygamy only produces more kids for the one top guy, not for the community. Since this group would have been specifically selected for good genes, there is no reason to produce fewer kids for all the other men.

The arguments used here reflect a deep misunderstanding of how marriage works in a society.

If we have the tech to colonize, we can send a huge gene pool in an ice chest. So the deciding factor would be social not genetic.

Group marriage may work, but have there been any examples in history of it working? I never heard of any.

Polyandry never works because the men would kill each other off and the woman will be naturally attracted to the stronger, so it ends up monogamy, which seems to be the natural state of humans.

I guess that would depend of what kind of people go to populate that planet, cause they will bring their religion and ideas with them, in a desperate case where humans would be desperate to populate a planet fast I think Polygamy should be the best choice.
