Do you like the idea of Detroit playing Farjestads in the preseason?

Do they have more to gain, or more to lose? How close do you think the game will be?

I'm a fan of the Red Wings playing in Sweden in general, as the fan support will be overwhelming during the regular season game against the Blues.

It will be interesting to see where the fans stand when Swede favorites like Lidstrom, Franzen, Kronvall, etc. play against an Eliteserien team.

Update:

wow...I didnt know college ball was so competitive.

Its nice to see U of M tie the Mets, but the Tigers destroy FL SO 17-4.

Im predicting something in the middle...not a blowout, but not a real nail-biter either.

I think its awesome that the Wings are doing this. For the reg season kickoff there could be someone better to play than the blues. They have what, 1 or 2 Swedes?

But im pretty pumped for the Farjestads game, I think the Wings will double the Farjestads points, if not more. The SEL is inferior to the NHL even though the Farjestads are the SEL champs.

It's tough to predict the outcome of a single game, but honestly, I don't think anyone will be pay too much credence to whatever the outcome might be of that one game. Like most preseason games, the Wings will be using it to try different line matchups and to get everyone ready for the regular season starting two weeks later. You never know, Faejestads might shock them - but I don't think it would matter much over here.

The same was true of that Mets-Michigan game. The Mets were using that as a chance for a lot of pitchers to get some work, and there had to be some rustiness considering how early it was in spring training. When the played this season, I think it was 18-7 for the Mets.

It will be interesting, because we will get to see a contrast of 2 different types of hockey. North American and European hockey.

Detroit has a good amount of Swedes on their team.

ie. Lidstrom, Ericsson, Zetterberg, Franzen, Kronwall, Holmstrom, Lilja, and other developing Swedes.

But I think that Detroit has the upper hand, because North American players tend to play with more grit. While the Europeans play with more flashy moves.

But hey, we'll never know what it'll turn out to be like.

That's pretty interesting... to have two teams nearly chock-full of European players. One from the NHL and one from the Elitserien. It'll be nice to hear (or watch) about Lidstrom, and other Swedes with Detroit play against Farjestads BK.
