"That's what you get for marrying a white girl"?
This is sort of inspired by Training day's question about Steve McNair.
I've occasionally heard black women saying something along these lines when a black celebrity or public figure has marital troubles with a white spouse, the implication being that a black woman wouldn't do him wrong in that fashion or stand for him to do any wrongs if it was his fault. My question to you is do you think there is any measure of truth to statement like these? Do black women have more sympathy and/or "know their black men" better, to the point where they wont pull the plug on the relationship and fleece him for alimony as quickly or give him any leeway to take advantage of her.
There are counter examples to this of course, like Kenny Andersons black wife whooping his behind in court because of his infidelity and buying a car with a custom license plate that said "HISCASH".
I'm just looking for a general opinion. While this question is probably more geared to black people, black women specifically, I'd appreciate anybody feelings on this.
Mrs. Strength- Can you expound a little on that last point you made, about the killing of the spouse?
This isn't just about divorce.

I think the general consensus of many Black women is that expressed by comedienne Sheryl Underwood when she said that when these athletes and celebrities are in college or at the beginning of their career before they are successful they are with these men supporting them and making personal sacrifices. It's the ultimate betrayal when these athletes become successful and marry not just another woman but a White woman. We can't ignore the significance of this. This a big deal because it sends so many messages on so many levels. I think main message it sends is "I'm good enough to struggle with and be supportive under adverse conditions or in the development of that brother's career but when they achieve success I'm not good enough to share it with." This is very hurtful. I see nothing wrong with a woman wanting the finer things in life and getting those things from a man who love them. To me that's not being a "gold digger". However these sister see brothers going all out for these other women it kind of sends the message that these guys were just using them to get to who and what they truly desired.
These scorn sisters have no sympathy when these brothers get taken to the cleaners by these White women or women of other races. Many of them feel vindicated by karma, god or whatever force tips the scales to balance to forces of good and evil. I honestly don't blame them.

Um no. A woman who doesn't use physicality as an act of vengeance, or is truly mutual with an ex spouse is true to her word. Of course race is being played into this like any other topic. There is mutual respect amongst some ex spouses or any past relationship and then there isn't.

Yeah, a crazy love like that doesn't come around every day. Seize the moment. Marry her!

From the crimes that I've seen, women are more dangerous than you believe. Even if they're not directly committing crimes, how many times have men committed crimes because of a woman?? I've seen some crazy sh*t go down that involved women, and their ethnicities range from black, to Latino, to Asians, to Irish, whatever... Some chicks are just psycho and unstable. I can't go to sleep next to the gf without making sure all the knives are hidden. =X

I hate when people say that, as if such things can not happen had they dated or married their own race. Wasn't Al Green's girlfriend or wife black- the one with the grits. Lionel Richie's first wife was black and she dropped him when he cheated and whooped his new girls a$$. There have been other examples.
I've heard whites say that too, so.
You never know what will happen, until it happens.

I don't think it has anything to do with race, it is all about personality.
But I disagree with the girl who said "Black people have a higher divorce rate" Which i think is not true.
I think white and black are equal, but no one seems to show black familys who have stuck it out.

I don't think when it comes to women in general that it really is down to race. I agree with one of the posters above, when a woman is crazy and you ended up marrying her...well it doesn't matter what ethnicity she is, it matters if she has a weapon and wants to kill you in your sleep. That's it.

ANYBODY of any race could end up in this same situation- i don't think it necessarily has to do with race, but there do seem to be some mental health issues here.
