What to do in Dublin?

My husband will be in Dublin for two weeks for his job (in the upcoming month - end of July, beginning of August). What is good to do in the evenings and weekends? Also, is there anywhere to play tennis for free or a nominal charge? Is there a Chinatown section? (He's Chinese but his English is excellent and he's already traveled quite a bit). He likes all types of food too. (We are from Florida in the US). Thanks.

There is a sizable Chinese community in Dublin, however, there isn't a Chinatown per-se. There's a couple of Chinese restaurant's on Dame st. (near Temple bar)- such as "Fans", as well as several other nationalities eateries within Temple bar itself (Italian, Indian, Indonesian, Tex/mex, Mongolian, Nepali, Persian, etc).

There's a few things to do, you could visit the cinema, go to the theatre, take the ghost bus tour, or go see some comedy at one of the clubs. You could visit the national museum and galleries at the weekend or take a tour to see some of the other sites outside Dublin (like Newgrange and Trim castle). I know of a couple of tennis courts/clubs around the city, it depends on where you're staying. However, I'd try castleknock tennis club.

    Hi,

There is a Chinatown in Dorset Street though not on the same scale as the one in New York or San Francisco. It has plenty of eateries for your husband and there's also places to eat run by other nationalities around there, e.g. Polish and Indian.

As regards the tennis, I believe Rathgar tennis club allows non-members to play for a nominal fee.

And try this website for other activities:

    Hope this helped,

    Brian.
