Can architectural shingles such as Tamko Heritage or Timberline HD be shingled over?
I am putting a new roof on my home and want to know if the architectural shingles can be shingled over with another layer or do they require a complete tear off. I plan to keep this home for a long time and I assume a complete tear off costs more than putting a new layer on. Is this correct. Any other words of wisdom??? THANKS!
I will be getting a complete tear off before the Tamko or Timberline is put on. The shingle over question is for the next time it gets shingled (hopefully 20 years or so from now). We have huge hail here quite often, the last lot of hail in June was 4 inch with spikes on it. What a mess it made.

NO. There would be too much weight. Standard shingles can have a second layer only. Any more are not allowed.
