  • Trickle charger chatters and turns on and off when I try to charge lawn mower battery?

I have cleaned the contacts and when I hook it up it turns on for a few seconds and chatters, the indicator light blinks rapidly on and off and then turns off. Is the battery bad or is the trickle charger bad. Thank you for your help. Oh, I forgot to say it is a 1 or 2 amp charger.

  • farm land prices are going up and foreign buyers are buying US farmland. What is your thought on this?

I am very uncomfortable with foreigners purchasing our farmland. If they want to send all the produce back to their country can they? Do they have to abide by our prices, taxes, etc. when selling the crops? I do not mind someone from another country buying a residence or becoming a citizen and purchasing land, but having our farm land owned by none US citizens just really does not sit right with me. I know that a lot of US land is already foreign owned, but it is mostly hotels and entertainment not our farmland. What are your thoughts on this? Do we need to be worried?

  • How do you choose what color of light switch plates to use?

My walls are all light colored, the wood craftsman style trim is a medium dark oak. What color do I need to have the electrical and switch plates? The cold air returns are in the tall baseboard trim, they are 1/2 inch taller than the trim. I was going to have them be brown to match the baseboards. Do I have the plates brown also? Thank you for your answer!

  • Hi, I am trying to help my 7 yo grandson on Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story on DS?

We can not find out if Bowser can pick up or push items. Can he? If he can what are the controls to pick up? What are the controls to push? We have read both Gamefaqs on this game and could find nothing about Bowser being able to pick up or push. Maybe he can't, but it seems that there are places where he could. THANK YOU for answers...

  • Can architectural shingles such as Tamko Heritage or Timberline HD be shingled over?

I am putting a new roof on my home and want to know if the architectural shingles can be shingled over with another layer or do they require a complete tear off. I plan to keep this home for a long time and I assume a complete tear off costs more than putting a new layer on. Is this correct. Any other words of wisdom??? THANKS!

  • I need to raise the soil level in my flower bed, do I take out hostas and perennials and replant higher?

My flower beds that are by the house and bordered by bricks need about 5 inches more soil so I can get them slanted away from the house for drainage. They are planted with hostas, perennials and lilys. Do I take all these out and replant them at a higher level? What is a good ground cover for between hostas? What kind of mulch works best and how many inches thick is good? I live by the Kansas City MO area. Thank you for your time and answers...

  • Need Help with plumbing problem, please. House has a septic system & doesn't have p-traps. Is this right?

I had this home inspected by a home inspector and he did not mention anything about the lack of p-traps. I have not had a home that has a septic system before so I thought that the no p-trap thing was probably OK, but did not know. Occasionally we have sewer whiffs of smell from drains and now only the hall bathroom has a mold/mildew smell coming out of the sink and tub drains. The tub has an overflow and the sink does not have an overflow. The master bath set-up is the same as the hall bath, the basement bathroom sink has no p-trap and no overflow. There is a toilet in that bath also. If I go out in the garage I can see a p-trap from under the master bedroom bath area tub. The roof vent is also right between the hall and master bedroom. There is not a roof vent by the kitchen area (15 or more feet from baths) and that is where we get the sewer whiffs (not very often). Do I need to put in p-traps? Is the one roof vent OK? Any cause for mold smell? I have checked for leaks from tubs and sinks etc. Please help!

  • How much does Merrill Lynch & Co Chief Executive John Thain make a year in salary?

In today's news: (Reuters) – Merrill Lynch & Co Chief Executive John Thain has suggested to directors that he get a 2008 bonus of as much as $10 million.

I do not know what to think of this. I do know that my portfolio with them has lost 1/3 of its value in the last several months. I think he should be able to live just fine without a bonus. I also think that his reason for getting the bonus (that the decision he made saved the company) is what he is getting paid a salary to do, he is suppose to make good decisions and run the company wisely. What do you think? What is his yearly salary?

  • Auto maker bailout. What is the best way to show oppositon?

Having lived just outside of Detroit and hearing constantly from GM workers how part of the GM workers are laid off at 80% of their pay and the others that are still working are getting overtime. Now I am living by Kansas City and many people I know work at the Ford plant where the same type of management happens. I am tired of hearing stories about auto workers who never show up on Friday, etc.,etc. It makes me wonder why we should help a company that obviously mismanages. It was bad enough on the last bailout giving money to the same people who got us in the mess with their deceptive practices and now this. It is not as if the automakers did not know this day would come. They have known for more than 30 years and refused to step up to the plate. And I am not going to feel sorry for someone who has been making around $30 an hour and gets a hefty pension when they retire. Maybe they should step up to the plate and take a pay cut to get their company back on track. So what is the best, most effective way to show opposition to this???

  • Horse bladder infections, possibly cancer help please.?

Is there anyone who has looked at an endoscope video of the insides of a horse bladder? The vet did an endoscope on my friends horse. The mare has been discharging a stream of thick fluid/pee every 20 minutes or so, it does not come out with any force like urine usually does, just dribbles out and gets all over her legs. The video shows ulceration and possibly puss on a rough looking insides. There is one purple polyp looking growth the size of a marble. The vet did not do a biopsy or take a urine sample but says it looks like it is probably cancer. This is in a breed of horse that does not usually get bladder cancer. So, if anyone has viewed a video can you describe it for her?

  • Vapor barrier and insulation help please?

I have an existing wall in the home I bought that has zero insulation in it. I am a little upset that I paid a home inspector to check for things like this and he had nothing about it in his report. That is another story though. The question I want to ask is this: The existing wall is a basement wall, above ground no earth contact. It is 24 foot by 8 foot, with one window and a standard sliding glass door. I need to know if I can paint the existing wall on the inside (plasterboard) with a good vapor barrier paint and then stud out a new wall and put in insulation and new plaster board. I know I would lose 4 inches or so of room size on that wall but it would be a much easier project than tearing down the wall from either the outside or inside. My concern is would this cause the existing plasterboard to become damp and moldy.Would the empty existing wall space get moldy or damp. Any other suggestions on a way to do this???
