My friend wants a tattoo...?

My close friend is 13 and she wants a tattoo on the inside of her lip. She's set on doing it herself, too... How can I convince her that this is a bad idea?

Well, if she wants a tattoo, then that is her decision, not yours. Try to convince her out of it, but let her know that it is her body and she is capable of doing whatever she wants to do to it.

She is only thirteen years old. Legally, you can have a tattoo at 18 years of age, when you are an adult. I am sure her parents are not set on allowing her to do this. And if they are, then what kind of parents are they?

Tell her that getting a tattoo on the inside of her lip is pointless. Tell her that no one will see it, there will be ink inside her mouth which may kill her (because she might swallow the ink), and tell her that it is going to hurt extremely bad because of the veins and everything.

Tell her that there is no way that she would obtain the needles, or the permemant dye.

And tell her that she is your best friend, and you just want what's best for her. You don't want her to do something that she will regret.

In this case you should tell your parents and let them decide what to do.

The biggest problem with doing an inner lip tattoo by yourself is infection. Not a local infection. Rather a whole body infection. The lip is very vasular and a few germs entering a blood vessel can cause big trouble.

Tell her to get it done professionally, and she can't get it done without parental permission until she's 15 or 16 depending on the state and the shop she's going to. It won't be that expensive, and a lip tattoo isn't permanent. If she plans on doing it herself, she'll get an infection and it could kill her. Tell her that, and if she plans to keep doing it, I'd tell her parents. Even if she's a close friend, if you really care about her, you'll tell her 'rents to keep her from hurting herself.

Tell your friend that you don't want her to get hurt, and that there are many risks to tattooing herself.

Say that it's going to be painful doing it herself, and that she doesn't know how deep to put the needle in.

Say it can turn up really ugly and deformed; nobody likes hearing that their tattoo is going to be ugly.

ribs- but from experience its much more painful than other tats.. neck is pretty easy, so is behind the ear, what bout on his foot? also, i agree with what has been said, if he thinks its that offensive to other people, he must be somewhat ashamed of it... tell him to think very seriously bout it also, be careful about glow in the dark tattoos... they haven't been round for long, and a lot of artists wont touch glow in the dark ink cause we dont know what (if any) problems it could cause in 20 years- cancer or whatever...

To add into the other answers, its almost positive that shes going to regret it, especially at 13. Shes probably going to want something else eventually or get sick or bored of it and wish she thought about it more carefully.....

Even if shes sure she wants it, she should seriosuly wait till shes a little oder

First of all... You are really caring and sweet, true friend. One's that are so hard to come by these day's.

Tell her that she will Regret it later down the road. I may make her not look so attractive. Tell her it will ruin her appearance to her face.

It may make the boy's run away!!! lol

    I hope this helped!!

she is too young to decide to do this. so maybe good childhood days left. goodluck !!

Tell her to look at these pictures, and ask her if she wants her tattoo to look like them.

Explain to her that she could get ink poisoning, MRSA or any kind of other infections, not to mention a crappy tattoo.
