How to update my ASUS Eee PC 1000HE's BIOS (running Windows 7)?

I installed the Windows 7 Release Candidate on my ASUS Eee PC 1000HE netbook, and it's been great. However, ASUS just came out with a new BIOS update, and to my knowledge, there isn't an updater program that's compatible with Windows 7 (or, for that matter, Vista).

I have the ROM file for the update on a USB flash drive. Should I make the drive bootable and use an old-fashioned DOS updater? Is there a way to update the BIOS from within the BIOS setup screens?

Thanks in advance!

Update:

The new BIOS update (allegedly) improves video performance, which would greatly benefit the viewing of shows on sites like Hulu, etc. It also supposedly enables better battery life. So yes, I do want the update, not just for the sake of updating.

Update 2:

Thanks, thatrotierkid, but I'm pretty sure there is no EZ Flash function in the Eee PC 1000HE's BIOS (it's a netbook, not an ASUS motherboard--though of course the netbook does have an ASUS motherboard...). I'll double-check when I get home. :-)

Update 3:

Hi, thatrotierkid! You were right about there being an EZFlash utility on the Eee PC 1000HE, only a bit off about how to access it. During the POST screen at boot-up, you hit Alt-F2 to enter the EZFlash utility, and assuming the ROM file is named correctly and it's on a USB flash drive, away you go! Thanks for your help!

    1) yes you can. asus motherboards come with a utility called EZ Flash. i have used it a number of times

    2) get a flash drive, format it in FAT32, put the ROM in the flash drives root. now reboot into the bios. go to the utilities/tools section (dont know the actual name off the tope of my head) and look for the EZ Flash utility. just follow the utility's directions.

    EDIT:

i just double checked. the 1000HE does have EZ Flash

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pcboostcleaner.com/

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Yes you can install xp or 7 on your little asus. You will need something bigger than a 2mb flash drive though. An external cd rom will do the trick.

    Ask yourself why!

Why do you need to update the BIOS on a netbook?

Unless your experiencing a problem only fixable through a BIOS update dont do it. You just risk making more problems for yourself.

Your just updating the BIOS for the sake of it.
