Western Digital External Hard Drive not recognized.?
I recently tried switching my External Hard Drive to my old computer, but it malfunctioned.
When I reconnected it back to my new computer, it wasn't recognized.
I've tried, unplugging and reconnecting, but still shows up as an unrecognized USB port.
I've tried using another USB Cable, and port, with no success.
I had a similar problem when my DVD/CD drive, wouldn't work. But got instructions, from Gateway, to go to RegEdit, and made a fix.
Any idea how to get my hard drive recognized again, would be appreciated.
Western Digital, hasn't answered my E-mail query as yet.

You probably forgot to partition the drive which is required in order to use the drive. You partition the drive by right clicking my computer and clicking mange>then on the left you go to storage>then disk management>the you should see a disk there that says no partitioned or free space>you right click on that and click format and then a wizard should help you through the process.
