Help! Medical Question?
Hello, I was laying down, and suddenly I got very poignant, acute neck pain on the right side of my body. The pain was in the my neck and a little bit in the shoulder. It was very painful and lasted for about five minutes? I wasn't in an irregular position or anything. What could it be?

Your ligaments, nerves, bones, and tissues all move with you as you carry out your day. By laying down you create pressure on the rest of your body which is able to withstand it.
However sometimes you can get a pinched nerve if it slips by a bone or tendon. Things like this happen all the time. Your body isn't perfect and sometimes gets caught on its own tissue such as a nerve or tendon. Your tendons can actually move on you, but no reason for concern as they usually move back.
I believe it is an irregular position as you call it; or just a misplacement of your body at that point in time. It will correct itself when you get up.
Hope this helps, stay healthy.

Well if it starts happening frequently then go see a doctor. It could be the way you slept the previous night, something you did the day before that your muscles were not used too or, it could just be stiff muscles.
