Why do you think you have the right not to be offended?
You have the Right to be offended, take offense, and to offend. That is the beauty of free will and freedom of speech.
Say what you think, and feel and disagree. Just because we don't agree doesn't mean we can't get along. Why do you think that my thoughts and feelings and ideas are offensive yet when I share that yours are as well to me you can't accept it.
You do not have the right to not be offended.
Please can you explain why you think you do?
(offense meant)
Naomi- that wouldn't offend me, she is dead.

People say that all the time, I get offended and think less of them, but they still have the right to say it as long as they are to offering or inciting violence it's ok by me.

Yes, I agree. We need to stop being afraid of our natural instincts and feelings, and start to live our freedom instead of just talk about it. The truth may offend people. Does that mean we are forbidden to speak it?
♣Miss PerSepHonE♣, you are sorely mistaken about what speech is not protected. You can say Hail Hitler or Heil Hitler as much as you want. As Anna said, you cannot incite violence or any other illegal act. Other than that, it's all fair game. You are allowed to hate anyone you want, and be offended by anything. And ridicule is only an issue if it is slanderous. Furthermore, if you are at work, you are not in public. You are subject to the rules of your company.

If the objective is to share thoughts then all thoughts fair game. And offense should only be taken when something really bad happens. I got a TOS violation for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzwheeeeeeeeeeeeew. My thought was that the post ws boring and it was. The snitch should not be allowed to censor my thoughts. Good post.

You have the right to not be offended within reason. It just depends on the circumstances.
For example, do you have the right to not see someone dig up the corpse of a dead relative and display it in an art gallery?
That is an extreme example but I'm using an extreme example to make my point.

hate speech and some ridicule is not protected under FREEDOM OF SPEECH. many people are too ignorant to understand what FOS actually is. no one can go to work or any public place saying Hail Hitler or Ni*gg*s are monkeys. You would be punished and/or met with acrimony. I have a right to not be offended though i really do not care what people say about me because most of them are childish and incapable of hearing the truth about themselves.

I personally love it when people offend me, because then I can just offend them right back. It's fun. I think people just need to lighten up.
