How much longer until Vince pulls the plug on Randy Orton?
It's been said many times, but it's generally accepted that while Randy Orton is a decent wrestler who has failed spectacularly as the face of RAW. Honestly, week after week, Orton comes out and re-hashes the same old promo over and over again.
Despite the incredible amount of effort WWE has put into the Orton/Triple H feud, it's been stale, boring and over-played for waaaaay to long now.
I mean, how much longer is this going to drag on for? Even people who can't stand John Cena can probably admit that while Orton is a better in-ring wrestler than Cena, Cena is much better at carrying RAW. Almost every one of Orton's feuds have been predictable and repetitive.
I'm just wondering when this is going to stop, it's overplayed as it is.

I don't think Orton will ever go away (I mean, he will always be a main eventer in the WWE, at least as long as Vince is in charge). He failed miserably in late '07 when Cena went down with an injury and Orton was put in his spot as the top dog on RAW. Despite so many fans claiming to hate Cena, after about 2 weeks of Orton being the top dog, most people wanted Cena back.
Orton has fared a little better this time. His beginning as the number one guy on RAW was actually successful. But Vince screwed it up by ramming Orton down our throats so much and so often that even Orton fans got sick of it. It's quite obvious that wrestling skills are irrelevant in WWE main eventers. Marketability is the sole criteria for being successful in the WWE. While Orton is decent in the ring, and he has a great "look", he does not have the charisma to "carry" the show. He also doesn't have the ability to change gears when necessary to bring the fans back after he's lost them (in the ring or in promos) like Cena, Triple H, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Jericho, etc. can do. Orton is still too stiff and wooden, and is obviously playing a role. Edge, Cena, etc. are excellent at making us forget they are playing roles; they are believable in what they do. Orton is not.
Batista suffers from the same "woodenness" and lack of charisma. This is why it was necessary to bring Ric Flair back during his feud with Orton. Batista vs Orton was a snore-fest. Flair was able to inject some excitement into that feud.
RAW has a few mid-carders that are being groomed for the main events (MVP, The Miz, Swagger, a couple more) but they aren't ready just yet. Mark Henry ain't no Shawn Michaels but at least he's different. Henry in the face role is also different. We'll see how this plays out if Vince decides to match him against Orton.
But until the charismatic mid-carders can be stepped up into the big spotlight (or Shawn Michaels returns), Triple H is the only main eventer on RAW (besides Cena) who can feud with Orton and not have it descend into a complete snooze-fest.
For some reason Vince seems to love Orton, so Orton isn't going anywhere. But Vince HAS listened to the fans and has backed off the force-feeding of Orton upon us (a little, anyway).
I would say Orton vs Triple H will end at Night Of Champions with Orton coming out as Champ. Mark Henry will probably be the next challenger for Orton.

I can't say I agree with your statement.
NO ONE can carry the show. that's the problem. Vince has relied too long on one face carrying the brand instead of creating multiple reasons to watch the show. The ratings fell with Cena the same way their falling with Orton. Anything can get stale after a while. What Vince should do is stop re-hashing the same freaking rivalries over and over again. Orton/Batista, Orton/HHH, Orton/Cena, Cena/Orton, Cena/Batista, Cena/HHH, throw Edge in there just to mix it up. Give them a new reason to fight because watching them fight for the other reason wasn't enough. Have an elimination chamber and put 2 new guys in their to make it seem like we're doing something different, but go back to the same crap. hey, they haven't seen Cena/Orton for 6 months, let's give it to them again as something new. CM Punk's reign was the first reign when he did something different, only to book him as the weakest face champion ever...
He needs to pull the plug on this ONE GUY CARRYING THE SHOW AND ENGAGING IN THE SAME FEUDS nonsense, period.

No.. That would probably be the worst thing ever to do in the whole WWE. If they fired Orton do you realise how much the ratings would drop on RAW and on WWE in general. He brings up so many ratings and he is the best heel in WWE right now. Punting the boss in the head, destroying the Mcmahon family. Injuring Batista. All of this is making him such a heel. And hes making Vince Mcmahon money. I dont think that VInce Mcmahon would ever even think about firing Orton.

The WWE would not survive without Orton. He's one of the main heels on RAW, which is completely necessary for RAW to even have a chance of keeping it's ratings.
Besides, I don't think one man should have to be the face of RAW, it needs many faces to keep things running and interesting. No matter who they're trying to dump all that responsibility on, it's just too much and the fans are going to get sick of them in no time at all. That's how it's going to be and the WWE needs to find a way to deal with it.

I hope that Ted Dibiase turns on Orton - hopefully then that will create a diversion and/or ending to the Triple H thing. I think with Ted Jr getting a bit aggravated with Orton when they lost their challenge for the tag belts and also having to face Orton with Big Ted - I think Ted is due to go face and if that happens .... he will back stab Orton. Well...hopefully - I agree that the storyline is a bit stale now.
I agree with 13 time KING of KINGS with his/her comments below. I think they need someone else to be the main eventer. If only HBK was about, this might bring back ratings temporarily for RAW, or perhaps they should bring back a few of the golden greats of the past - Sid, Kurt Angle, Booker T - just brain storming here, I mean if it brought back a Superstar of the past - perhaps people would tune in as they followed them in the past - some of them still got it. Personally - and I know he is old - but I wish they would give Psycho Sid one last run, just think he is in great shape (from looking at him on youtube), and has potential to be wrestler/manager/heel/face...why not!

Once the ratings drop to below 3.0 that is when vince will pull the plug on orton
the thing about vince is he has this audience of one mentality, with him its im right and if anyone disagrees they are wrong, so vince will go on and on and on forcing his way on us until he realizes that its not that great and with orton it just doesnt look like it will happen at all.
The hhh/orton feud will end soon i think, but the thing is orton is going to be the one walking away the victor not hhh. I can see orton being champ either till survivor series or just off an on with cena for the rest of the year.
But orton will never end unless the ratings get worse then they are, yes they are worse then usual and wwe has resorted to a celeb of the week to get ratings, but as long as it stays above 3.0 it vince will never change his mind on orton.

I think Vince is going to lose his patience with Randy Orton soon enough unless Randy Orton can suddenly carry the show and bring in ratings. I've been a fan of Randy Orton for many years now because I've been a fan since 2003 and i have watched him closely and saw how he developed in character, wrestling ability, and as a superstar. Randy Orton is just a decent wrestler and he is not as perceived as the best in WWE. There have been wrestlers way more skilled than Randy Orton in the ring such as Ric Flair, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Ricky Steamboat, and many other wrestlers. Randy Orton is passable on the mic and i consider him decent there as well because he can't revise like some other great talkers and he always talks in this slow monotone way. I understand its part of his gimmick, but Chris Jericho tries to be a monotone character and he is still phenomenal on the mic. Randy Orton usually says the same thing in his promos as well. Randy Orton has charisma though and its charisma that's allowed him to come so far in WWE. He gets fan reactions although he gets more cheers than heat, but he still gets some heat from the fans. Orton's gimmick just doesn't allow him to carry Raw as well as he should.
I'm not sure how much longer Vince will allow Orton to be the face of Raw because so far Orton's title reigns haven't been spectacular. Lets take a recap of how desperate Raw is. First, Randy Orton feuds with Triple H and Triple H lets Randy pin him and become the WWE Champion. We see Batista challenging Randy Orton and they have the same repetitive promos of Legacy running away and Batista creating chaos. At Judgment Day Orton vs Batista turned out to be a horrible match and it wasn't even close to entertaining. Great superstars like Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, and Triple H carried Batista through matches before, WWE than brought the legendary Hall of Famer Ric Flair to try helping the feud and build up Orton as a big heel. At Extreme Rules the steel cage match was arguably the worst steel cage match in WWE history. Batista was also injured and since Batista vs Randy Orton couldn't do it they brought in Triple H because he has carried Raw successfully before. As we know Triple H vs Randy Orton turned out to be an absolute failure with the same repetitive promos and the same matches. WWE finally than turned to the one man who was their backup. WWE had to call in John Cena just to try helping this feud between Orton and Triple H. This could be Orton's last chance because if being with Cena fails, than i have no clue what WWE is going to do next to try improving Raw.
Randy Orton is better than John Cena when it comes to in ring ability for sure. I agree though when people say John Cena can carry Raw better than Orton can. When John Cena was the face of Raw he won matches, but he still continuously brought in ratings and he shook things up on Raw. John Cena has done something that no other man in WWE has done and that's carrying Great Khali through their storyline which lasted months and Cena carried Khali through all their matches. John Cena definitely was overexposed in 2007, but practically everyone was injured at that time. We were left with John Cena, Great Khali, Randy Orton, Carlito, and Umaga. About half of those guys still needed more build up and preparation before they can challenge for the WWE Championship. Yes, i agree when you say that so far most of Orton's feuds have been repetitive and uninteresting. Raw needs to start building up new main eventers and match ups so that we can see some refreshing new things on Raw. We need to stop with the same main eventers all the time and WWE should focus in giving us quality matches with some new superstars at times.
