Why do SOME minorities feel that caucasians are out to get them ?

For example, I work at a local restaurant and a black family came in and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table (on a busy Friday night). Other customers had called ahead to be put on our 'call ahead' list and were seated quickly. The woman asked why the WHITE customers were seated first. I explained to her that there is a call ahead list, and that is why they were seated first. She wasn't buying it and said 'It sounds like racism to me."

I understand that some people must face situatiions every day where the are legitimately discriminated against, but seriously, just because someone didn't 'call ahead', doesn't mean that we deliberately seated white patrons before the black family.

I don't get up in the morning and say 'What can I do to prevent someone who is gay (or black, or Asian, or handicap, etc) from doing what they need to do?" or "What can I do make someones life or day difficult?"

Why does this happen ?

Based on my experiences, anyone, no matter their race, can behave in 'some' way. I mean, the question you're asking is no different than asking why are some people football players while some aren't? Well, I could say the football players enjoy playing football, while the fans probably aren't athletic and prefer to watch at home. You'll get better answer by asking those individuals themselves. During that ordeal, you had the option to ask that woman why she felt racism was the issue. What makes you think that we can tell you? All you're going to hear are people's opinions and not facts. Is that what you asked the question for, reasonable opinions that you can agree with? Also, why are you attributing that instance to all minorities? Sure, you have a significant amount of Black people that complain in similar instances such as these, but does complaining about something petty happen often enough to make that assumption. I don't know where you live, but I'm Black and no matter my location, during the FEW times I've heard Black complain about racism, they seemed relevant. I don't often hear 'some' minorities call racism about things so petty . . . BTW, I can relate to some of these answerer's answers, but I disagree with 'Blacks are more prejudice' claim or they claim that Blacks normally feel victimized. I'm guessing, with you guys, it happens more often than 'usually?' Oh yeah, to the asker, how often do you get Blacks in your restaurant that complain? Hmm, perhaps the reason why some Blacks have an attitude with Whites is because they're misread by mistaken to be angry at 'Whitey' for slavery, when in fact, they're probably angry for being placed into a single group. When a couple of minorities call out racism, apparently, Black people are angry at Whites. When a few Whites do anything considered negative, the entire race isn't called out, just the individuals. However, when the Whites do something positive, the entire race gets credited. For example, if a certain crime was committed more by Whites, people would never say 'Whites are criminals,' or ask, 'Why do SOME White people commit this crime?' Yet, if the subject is about ancient philosophers, all past individuals, apparently, Whites are smarter than everyone because they had a number of philosophers, and it's usually said if THEY were the ones that innovated philosophy. However, if a Black person committed a large number of a certain crime, many questions would be asked about the entire race, when surprisingly, a large number of Blacks don't commit crime; it's just a high rate of crime committed in the ghettos and inner cities. Therefore, it makes sense that Blacks get angry when they're generalized like that, which they perceive as racism. I never heard a Black person complain to Whites or ABOUT Whites about slavery, and if I do, it would definitely be rare to hear.

Um okay, so you had a bad experience with ONE black family and that's going to determine the way you think of ALL African Americans?

I read some of the answers so far, and one said that ALL black families are taught to hate white people? That is not true.

That's like me saying that ALL white families are taught to support the KKK and Neo Nazis. So when people write stuff like this, I really don't understand why they would say something so incredibly stupid.

I for one do not use the "race card", and I know a lot of hard working black people who don't. Yes, we do have our bad seeds who likes to make us look bad as a whole....but what ethnicity group doesn't have that?

"yet they are by far the most prejudice race on earth."

I laughed so hard when I read this, so untrue! Why, because african americans can finally speak what's on their minds without getting burned, lynched, or dragged into the river?

Anybody can experience HIGH LEVEL of racism from every ethnicity group....not just from black people.

Black people have a major chip on their shoulder, they think the world owes them something, and that they're the only group of people to have a rough history. They have a massive attitude towards whitey because of slavery, yet keep very quiet when you point out that no Africans were stolen, they weren't rounded up in nets; white slave traders did just that, TRADE with BLACK African tribal leaders/kings. In exchange for your people we will give you silk, money, gold, spices, whatever you want. But you can't point out the role black's had in slavery, oh no, it was ALL down to the white man.

Bring on the thumbs down, because, as we all know, the truth hurts.

Black people almost always play the "it's because i'm black card". They have a victim mentality and there is really nothing to do about it. Until they change their way of thinking they are going to act like "oh, poor me" yet they are by far the most prejudice race on earth.
