  • Polls and Surveys: What style of quotation marks does your keyboard (or OS) have?

Tonight, when reading a history website, I used “Find and Replace” (FaR) to locate a quotation located within the page because I was too lazy to skim through all the paragraphs in search for it, but the FaR couldn't locate the quotation. I wondered why, until I discovered the quotation marks on my keyboard were different than those commonly found online. I learned various styles of quotation marks exist. Here are the differences:

    ““ (mine) and "" (others)

They may look the same, though, to see the differences, answer by posting your quotation marks, then use Find and Replace (Ctrl + F) and type in a quotation mark. If it directs you to my style of quotation marks, we share the same style. If it directs you to every other answerer's mark, you have the “common“ version. Let me know which style you have.

  • In your perspective, what are the chances of Yahoo! Answers staff listening to users when mass messaged?

Since I've been a member here, I've noticed many users complain about certain features, or lack thereof, that makes Yahoo! Answers quite disappointing, though not particularly bad. For one, the moderation system has been an issue since I've joined the community. Nonetheless, Yahoo! Answers staff technically amended, most notably, the layout instead of making efficient changes. Thus, if a majority of Yahoo! Answers users agreed to mass message Yahoo! Answers staff at once with suggestions that regard adding features and changing the site to improve it, in your opinion, what chances do you think they'd listen to the community?

  • George Lincoln Rockwell coined the term "White Power." What was his motive for advocating the term?

I'm sure all political movements and ideologies are started for a reason. What reason did George Lincoln Rockwell have for advocating White power?

  • How does one accept her flaws without feeling inferior?

And say this girl doesn't think she's unattractive at all, in the aspects of physical attractiveness and personality, but she has a physical flaw (or maybe two) that she believes are detrimental to sustaining a long relationship. These flaws cannot be helped either. What are some tips on helping this girl accept her flaws without feeling inferior or weak when she thinks of them?

  • Technology is now advanced, allowing you the ability to travel through the internet. Who would you visit?

Hmmm, well, I'd visit my favorite contacts and maybe those 'internet badasses,' just to see what they look like. lol. What about you? Who would you visit?

  • Why is the Flying Spaghetti Monster never covered in sauce?

For an entity made of spaghetti, you'd think he'd be able to secrete a significant amount of tomato sauce! Don't you agree? I don't like spaghetti without sauce! Spaghetti without sauce is like a Christian without Jesus.

  • What do we label these types of people?

Pedophiles refer to any adult that has a sexual attraction to children, but what about teenagers, or preteens that are sexually attracted to adults? Also, what about teenagers that are attracted to children, or vice-versa? What do we call them?

  • What man-made holes and permanent drawings do you have on your body and why did you get them?

Hmmmm, someone's answer inspired me to ask this simple question out of curiosity. I have three piercings in both ears, two belly button piercings, and a tattoo of a sun around my belly button. I got them because I thought it would look cute, hehe, if I could even think of another reason. What about you?

  • POLL: Do you shower naked or in a bathing suit?

No, I'm not a perv or anything, so don't fret. lol. I ask this question because I recently learned many people are scared or are uncomfortable with being naked, even in their own homes! Some even think nudity is wrong, but hey, I can't argue with people's morals! Therefore, I'm just curious. Do you shower naked or in a bathing suit?

  • Was religion perhaps born as a result of philosophy?

And/or does religion continue to grow as a result of philosophy? Lately, I've been reading many types of mythology and history, and Egyptian and Greek Mythology for example, differs from contemporary religion, but it has the same premise: deities that have control over certain elements and most rule over mortals. See, long ago, people actually believed the Greek god Zeus and the Norse god Thor were responsible for lightning, possibly as a result of not yet having the knowledge and equipment to deduct the truth. Can that be considered a 'philosophy' by the people that thought of this? Therefore, it leaves me wondering . . . 'Philosophy' is a system of beliefs accepted by either groups or an individual, which forms after having a hypothesis. Therefore, technically, religion is a type of philosophy because it too has a belief system, but it mainly focuses on the beliefs in deities. To understand my question, consider for a second that God or any other deity doesn't exist. For atheists, this should be a simple task. See, God doesn't show himself, and if religious text wasn't fairy-tales, surely the ancient people would have some reason for believing in what they did. If God doesn't exist, do you agree, perhaps the belief in God originated as an ancient person's or group's philosophy? Also, to the believers, do you believe modern philosophy is the catalyst to why contemporary religious people still believe in religion?

  • Have you taken off your clothes yet . . .?

As we all know, it's the summer time, meaning it's perfect for a vacation, sunbathing, and the beach! My area usually doesn't get too hot, even during the summer, but lately, the temperature has managed to maintain a steady hot rate, which is why I'm so excited! Hehe. I bought a new cute black and pink bathing suit and I'm often at the beach, not having much time online anymores. Thus, my question for you is simple: have you taken off your clothes, put on your bathing suit, and went to the beach lately? Also, what new (less hot) clothes did you purchase for the summer?

    Thanx!

  • Is this category ever empty or uncrowded?

From what I noticed in Polls & Surveys, I often answer questions and end up on the bottom or second page, the areas that frustrate me. lol. I oftentimes post in 'Other - Society & Culture,' and 'Psychology,' and those categories are like a ghost town compared to this one, especially during the night or morning, because people are catching Zs. I'm assuming this category is overrun by preteens and teenagers, and it's the summer time! That means you can stay on this site long as you want. Still, even before the summer, it seems this category was always full. I come to this category often, but not often enough to know how crowded it is during different times of the day. Therefore, I asking the people that frequent this category, does it ever seem 'empty' sometimes?

  • Is it rude to say . . .?

. . ."Aren't you glad I told you that" after giving an explanation? I do this more often than 'sometimes' and not notice it. I did this once when I explained something to another user by email, but she didn't respond. Perhaps saying 'aren't you glad I told you that' caused her to avoid me? Anyways, she's not really important or part of the question, just an example. She's LONG gone. I just want your opinions. Do you think it's rude?

    Thanx! ^__^

  • Am I deformed ?

On average, whether to appease others or look good for themselves, many women make it a priority to shave unsightly body hair. I work as a cosmetologist, and about two or three days ago, a client of mine said she'd pay extra for a makeover because she wanted to look great for the summer, but had no idea how to do it. She said she never found herself attractive because she rarely focused on the common beauty practices, such as shaving, wearing makeup, etc. When I started working, I noticed she had a significant amount of hair on her legs, arms, and in her armpits. Normally, I don't offer hair removal, but I served her well and explained what she needed to remain hairless. After finishing, my work helped me remember I have never grown hair in my armpits, on my legs, or arms like most females, which was interesting. I mean, I was aware of this before, but I never paid attention. Therefore, if so many shave and grow hair in many places, and I use various women hygienic products for work, how often do women NOT grow hair in these areas? Is this rare, common, or am I deformed? Thanks for your answers!
