How Do You Start a Restaurant?
My college lacks a good health food restaurant and we are coming up with a proposal to start one. Unfortunately, we feel that students should not run the restaurant. How would one go about giving the idea to a restaurateur so that they would start and run the restaurant? Is there some kind of listing of restaurateurs? How would we find a potential manager and owner if we had our own ideas for a menu? Would they be interested at all in what we want? Any help is greatly appreciated!

The first place I would start is with successful, similar restaurants in the local area (locally owned & operated rather than chains or franchises). The owners of those businesses may be looking for expansion.
The agency that issues licenses to food service venues in your city/state should be able to provide you with a list of all the current licenses. That could give you a starting spot.
