How would you deal with Brock Lesner in a real fight?

I'm not sure how I would handle him. There are not many men that make me think alot of my techniques would be futile against him. Not that I couldn't succeed, but just that I would have a much smaller window of opportunity before being pummeled.

For clarity, I mean an unarmed unavoidable confrontation. Please don't say the eyes or to kick him in the pills.

James

Update:

okay, many martial arts were designed so that a smaller and weaker person can neutralize the size and strength advantage of a larger person.

So are we saying that only goes so far? That size and strength can be overcome to a certain degree, but there is a point at which it stops?

Update 2:

I was hoping to get some better discussion from this.

"Thrust kicks to the body" would be totally ineffective, you would knock yourself down.

The best answer I chose because it gives a reasonable effort to victory in described scenario.

I am a big guy, but not as big as Frank Mir, and he still got pummelled.

Leg kicks, knee kicks and precise strikes to the head and neck would be your best bet. To me, the most powerful kicks are the side kick and the spinning back kick, but if you don't time it right you are going down. Maintaining distance is tough to do. If he has a jacket on, you can always try some cross collar chokes from the bottom, assuming your hands are free.

I'd stay outside with round kicks to the leg, or side kicks to his knee cap. And I would come in with a strong faint to his face, maybe a punch to his nose to get him to react,

then follow it up with a strike to his trachea, and a strike to his groin...it'd get messier from there, assuming it was a street fight.

By no means would I bet on me succeeding, but I'd try.

    In competition, I couldn't win.

I guess I would have about 15 to 30 seconds to use every thing that I know from the dark side of martial arts, including improvised weapons. As you say my window of opportunity would be very small. He obviously has a high threshold of pain. Since you rule out the eyes as in "bill gee" techniques. the list of available distraction moves starts to shrink. BTW kicks to the "pills" are not instantly debilitating in the heat of a fight, often taking 15 to 30 seconds for a pronounced response it is often not the best choice as a opening gambit. All I can say for sure is that there will be sufficient DNA for the police investigation of my death.

Thanks for the fun and interesting question. I brings forward an important topic. Discretion is the better part of valor. Size matters especially when added to skill It is similar to speed added to the punch.

Is crying a technique? I took some drama classes when I was much younger. I never could cry on demand but in this case I might try really really hard.

Martial arts were created to help win against bigger stronger people. Truth is though a great martial artist is not even guaranteed a win against a smaller man with no training. Any thing can happen. You also have to factor in the fact that Lesnar has had technique for years from his wrestling. Not just the technique but also speed, a technique is worthless if your opponent or attacker is quick enough, naturally, to get our of the way before you execute it.

I have a jack that picks up my car just great, but when you put it under my dads truck it will not pick it up. There are techniques in arm wrestling that allow much smaller men to slam much huger opponents but at certain point when the smaller guy is up against a bigger guy who has some technique, smaller guy loses. Even if the bigger guy has less technique.

Martial arts can only help. I am 5'7 and walk around at 165. The only way I could see me beating Brock is with a bokken as his reach is still greater than mine with a knife. Hand to hand though, I'd be happy with him letting me survive

Thrust kicks to the torso, to maintain distance and to hopefully cause some internal damage. Side snap kicks for the same effect, but thrown less frequently than front thrust kicks, otherwise I might get read and taken down. Roundhouse kicks jeopardize my balance too much for me to throw securely. Only kicks I'd possibly throw to his head would be my right, inside crescent. That might be my most solid kick, not to mention Lesnar's guard is low on his left, and lower when he throws his right.

Alternatively, duck his right, step into him, throw an overhand elbow to his face. He'd almost undoubtedly take me to the ground from there, but I'll make him earn that take down with a broken nose or a nice cut.

Possibly low kicks to his lead leg/knee; front thrust kicks, side snaps, maybe low roundhouses. Probably only after he's finished a missed combination, and there's that slight lull in the fight.

On the ground, flurry of elbow hooks and elbow uppercuts. If he's returning it to me (probably with hammer fists, knowing him), then hang onto his neck, keep a body triangle on him, and wait for the round to end (or police to show up, if you meant street fight).

    That's me, at least.

Edit: Just thought I'd mention, I'm a heavyweight of similiar height to Lesnar, but of far less weight. That fact coupled with my lack of wrestling skill and experience means that when he gets me to the ground, my tactics are merely "survival mode" tactics. I wouldn't dare try to submit him. I'm a striker, and my art is a striking art, so that's what I'd do.

    use a weapon-

given lesnar's public attitude and persona- and size, even though i am not small, i'm pretty damn sure i could get away with use of deadly force against someone like that if he was indeed "coming after me".

in an unarmed confrontation you are talking about a bunch of hobbyists against a PROFESSIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT fighter.

there isn't much in an UNAVIODABLE confrontation that can be done except to try and fight back-

only an imbicile would not try to pick up a weapon against such a person.

thats the beauty part about weapons and the reason why they were first used i'm sure- they can make even someone like lesnar at lesnar's skill level and size, an equal to a lesser sized and skilled person (unarmed).

if of coruse you pull say a knife, and lesnar is equally skilled in fighting with a knife and has one on him, then we are talking a whole different ball game again.

the guy runs a 4.7sec 40 yard dash and he can do a 40 inch vertical leap... I'm pretty sure running isn't an option unless you're an Olympic caliber sprinter.

I don't think there is much you could do to Brock, even if you know what you're doing. truthfully I would go for his eyes and his nuts, but I wouldn't be dumb enough to expect that to stop him. that's just the set-up for my heel-hook. I would throw an extremely nasty inverted heel hook on him to tear the ligaments in his knee, then I'd outrun him.

ofcourse the chances of my 140lb *** getting stomped while I'm heel-hooking a guy that big and powerful are pretty large, but I've done it before... just not to anyone near Brock's level of athleticism.

Unfortunately, the eyes and pills are the two spots that would work against him. You aren't going to knock him out, unless you throw and connect with a perfect head kick to the throat.

Most likely, you get taken down and mashed.

If there aren't any rules, you gotta bite, eye gouge, and throw kicks to the groin or get destroyed.

    RUN!!! Faster than him!!!

Okay, seriously though... anyone that isn't as big as him should just stay away... He is a freak of nature... he's big, fast and he isn't intimidated easily, if at all.

If I were as big and as fast as him.. or at least close... I would probably use a lot of counter moves and punches until he gets tired out... but I expect to get hit and hurt pretty bad; so I would train on taking punishment... like the special forces do.

I would study the fighting style of Royce Gracie... he more than often defeated fighters that were freakishly large and/or fast... but he also knew how to avoid being hit and how to misdirect the hits... and he probably took a lot of punishment.

Other than that, pray... lots of prayer... cause you're gonna need it... LOL!

Forget Gracie, Matt Hughes beat the mess outta him. Forget the 'pills' and the eyes. Study pressure points, Bruce Lees 1" punch, throat punches. If it's an unavoidable situation, and nothing is available to pick up, (2x4, piece of pipe) hit him as hard and as fast in the nose as you can.

    1) first thing I would try is run.

    2) if he catches me, I would beg for my life, and probably crap my pants.

    3) if fighting is unavoidable, I would try to fight dirty (hence the word try), bite, scratch, low blows, weapons, name it.

    4) Either my friends would visit me at the hospital, or my funeral, I'm hoping the first one though, and have a great tale of how I survived after fighting the vanilla gorilla.
