Guys, what does eye contact/staring mean to you?

He likes you. A guy doesn't stare at a girl so much if he didn't have feelings for her or find her attractive. Guys don't have lots of facial muscles, so when he is staring at you he is not concentrating on his facial features rather than a female who would show more expressions. Also, when a guy stares you up and down, in other words checking you out is kind of his way of saying "I'm considering you a sexual partner" (don't ask). He may of gotten caught staring at you, so therefore he looked away quickly because he was embarrassed. But if it is a recurring thing, then he may like you.

Yeah you kinda got the concept, staring / making eye contact with a girl doesn't mean the guy likes her. In MY perspective, it can mean three things:

1. The guy is comfortable talking to the girl, and is comfortable with her presence around (just friends). I plenty of friends that are girls and I always make eye contact when I talk to them, it's just casual u kno?

2. The guy wants to meet the girl / is interested in her (acquaintance). Either that, or... the girl is weird-looking or ugly lol. But still, guys wouldn't stare at a girl that long if she's like that.

3. The guy likes the girl. He doesn't know how to express his feelings, but wishes he could find a way to do so.

I would tell you straight up how to tell which one of these views does a guy mean when he makes eye contact or stares, but I don't think I can. You should just.. kinda sense it.

definitely noticing you. More importantly, your noticing HIM..consider this girls naturally notice guys first(they just hide it better) so if your noticing him AFTER he's staring at you, it might mean your not that interested in him, but hes staring and projecting so hard that it gets your attention may also be intentional. He might be a stalker..or just trying to figure out where he recognizes you from. If you are interested in him try to find out more about him..is he cool or a psycho..use a third party to get intel if possible. If hes okay and checks out then hes probably shy or in a situation (girlfriend etc..) in that case make life easier on both of you and strike up a conversation..even if hes hitched you might become good friends waiting in the wings for something more.. Drop an interesting book (about homelessness or endangered species) near him or see if he holds a door for you, basically see if hes a gentleman.Your right that attracted and interested are two different things..He might be both, or attracted but not interested in pursuing anything with you (could be devoutly religious,studious or "involved")..or worse interested but not attracted because hes a master manipulator,queer(no offense intended) or a pimp, (lol not trying to scare you..but this is real life im telling you about.)

its a culture thing.. for some people its a sign of respect kinda like patting a hispanic on the shoulder as a greeting, but to others eye contact could be awkward if their are out of their comfort zone, like in a hospital. it varies from person to person and is more context sensitive.
