What size and font do you usually print and type books in?

Update:

Is it acceptable to use other fonts if they're still readable?

I would guess size 10 or 12 and printed in Arial or Times New Roman.

If you are currently writing a book on MS Word or something then you can use any font you want. It may help you get into the mood of your story to use a different font.

Just make sure when you print it out it's in a standard font.

Usually the Sell Sheet is in standard 12 point font, Times New Roman 1 inch margin... But then the books themselves, it all depends on the Publisher, the size of the book (standard book is usually on a 5x8 pallet), and how many words per page the book is. For instance your typical 5x8 150 page book is written in either 8 or 10pt. font. A children's book however, is usually anywhere from 12 to 16pt font.

11 or 12, Times New Roman or some other neutral thought. Some people will recommend using Courier New, but people who prefer newer manuscript methods will tell you that it makes your book look like a screenplay, which is obviously very different from a novel. If you're unsure, stick with Times New Roman in a size 12 font, since that's the usual standard.

i know it's palitino font or you could use times new roman... i think some books print in that font too and it's either 10, 11, or 12. i'd just stick with 12 until your publisher tells you for sure... i think i asked this question awhile ago lol

The actual print size is normally Times New Roman 12 pt. for the body of your work. On your title page, the title should appear the same as above mentioned, but in 14 pt. bold.

    It depends

If I'm writing for kids I do a big font, like 12 or 14

But if its for older people I do 8 or 10

I usually use 12 Times Roman (or w/e it's called), but if it gets published I think the publisher handles that.

Calibri 11 - for modern pieces; emphasizes clarity

Sylphaen - 12, for historical or time-based pieces; feminine, yet easy to read
