  • What are beautiful things I can show my boyfriend?

I want to show him beautiful things and do beautiful things with him. I don't know what to do, but I really need to give him some proof that there are beautiful things in the world and he can experience them, too. They can be small. They don't need to be miracles, unless they're tiny miracles.

  • A question for young (especially teenage) mothers relating to birth?

    Hi all!

Thank you for reading this. I am a young woman who is aiming to become a doula. If you are not familiar with this term, a doula is a nonmedical person who acts as support for parents during labor. My ultimate goal is to become a midwife, but first I plan to get my doula certification and accumulate experience in the field until I feel comfortable enough. For a while, I will hopefully be shadowing professionals in my area. I will not be unsupervised. There will always be medical professionals attending the birth. I do not have my own children. I have some very basic medical background though I have no certifications or experience in the field.

Since I am young, I would like to work mostly with young parents - especially teenage parents. I wanted to see if this is something that you would have considered for your own birth. I have heard people say that it is appealing for young parents to have someone near their own age to act as support and who can understand what's happening medically and speaks medical jargon. So, would you have considered having another young woman there to support you during your birth? Would you be more or less comfortable with a young woman (as opposed to older) assisting you during birth? What doubts or concerns would you have? How could I make you feel more comfortable in this situation?

  • Body piercing jewelry retainer question?

I am going to get my nipples pierced soon. Since I occasionally have MRI's and surgeries - not like monthly, but regularly enough for it to be of concern - I want to be prepared to have retainers. Only, the websites I am looking on don't specify which retainers work for nipples. I feel as if I will need a straight barbell, is this correct? Does anyone have any more information for me?

  • Is this related to the fourth chakra?

I'm new to meditation but every time I work on breathing, my chest hurts? For a while my throat would feel tight and hot, but that's mostly gone. Now my chest will feel like it's under a lot of pressure and it feels kind of like pins and needles. I tend to not talk about things to anyone and I'm just beginning to deal with some repressed emotions and issues. Has anyone else experienced this? And is it related to the fourth chakra?

  • If you were a high school English teacher, which essay would you prefer to read?

Alright. I have the opportunity to write an essay on the topic of my choice. I have two in mind. Bear with me here for a minute, and please do not suggest other topics. I want to write about something interesting to me and it has to be in the subject of the Humanities.

The first option is an analysis of the allegory in John Steinbeck's East of Eden. This will include a comparison of Cain and Abel to both Charles/Adam and Aaron/Caleb, an analysis of how the "A" and "C" characters represent good and evil, a look at how discussion of the Bible in character dialogue is used for foreshadowing, and some discussion of the concept of timshel.

The second is about how Gabriel Garcia Marquez portrays his female characters as very bold and powerful in relation to the gender constraints of their time. It would look at the female characters in Love in the Time of Cholera, Of Love and Other Demons, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and The General in His Labyrinth. I have specified in my outline how they deny the hierarchy of the time, but i won't outline it here.

Should I give both outlines with thesis statements to my teacher and let her decide which she'd be more interested in, or should I choose one and keep the other as back up? If you were a high school english teacher, which would you prefer to read?

  • Uh-oh baby fish! Help, please?

We (my dad and I) have a ciclid tank that has several different ciclid breeding pairs in it. Today we notices alot of tiny, clear, baby fish darting aroung the bottom of the tank. Our convict pair is staying right by them, the bigger of the two is chasing the other fish away and the smaller is hovering over the babies. Neither are eating them. Putting two and two together we think the convicts are the parents. Does this make sense?

We put in a tiny vase with a mouth wide enough for the babies to get in but no one else. What should we do for these lil fishies?

  • RABBITS - Question about snuffles?

    Hi,

Is the first sign of snuffles the sneezing and runny nose?

  • Is this a genetic defect? (Rabbits)?

My doe was bred and kindled her first litter on tuesday, 2 DOA and deformed, and one little normal baby. On thurs she kindled another, even more deformed and also DOA. She had all the deformed DOA's on the wire and the normal baby in her nest box. Are these deformed and dead babies a genetic defect? Is it just a problem with the genes of the buck and the doe? Or is it just that it's her first litter?

(I do have experience, just have never had the dead or deformed babies with a normal before...)

  • Question about rabbit breeds :)?

I raise, show, and breed Lionheads, and have been for 2 years now. With in the next couple of years I'd like to start in on a secondary breed, but I can't decide which. I want something small, somewhat challenging, and fun to work with.

    My top picks are:

    Jersey Woolies

    Holland Lops

    Dwarf Hotots

I've already had my run with Netherland Dwarfs and I didn't enjoy them as much as some people do.

Tell me which breed I should raise and why. Personal experiences, web sites, etc are beneficial to your answer!

  • Several rabbit questions, please answer!?

I raise Lionheads and Netherland Dwarfs in California so it's really hot in the summer. This causes problems, but we try to take the best possible care of them.

    1) Genetic question. I have a Jr. doe out of an Opal and a Blue. I can't tell if she's an Opal or a Blue Self Chin. She has ticking like she should but it's white, not fawn. She has blue eyes, white on her jaw, chest, and around her eyes. She has bands of blue and white with a white stomach. Her grand parents (Opal and Blue) have thrown a Blue Self Chin before but they more commonly throw Opal and Blue. What's your opinion?

    2. How do you treat a blowfly bite? Two of my does have been bitten due to the heat. I have isolated them from the rest of my herd. Please don't tell me to take them to the vet. I have people working with me who have veterinary experience. If it comes to it I'll take them to the vet, but it's not yet nessecary. Should I take out the larvae, then clean the bites with neosporian or peroxide? Let me know, please.

    3. How much wormer should I give a 3 year old 2-3 lb Lionhead buck? We have Evomectrin (?) wormer. I believe it's oral.

    Thank you!

  • RABBIT HELP PLEASE! Doe has some problems...?

I was getting a few rabbits ready for a show tomorrow and was checking over my Jr. doe. I found a slit in the skin and a scab on either side under her vent. I'm guessing this has been caused by flies since she's never been bred or been housed with a buck, but I'm not sure. Don't tell me to take her to a vet because I do have experiance with rabbits and am sure I can handle this myself. If it comes to it she will be taken to our vet but getting an appointment is impossible spur of the moment like this.

What's causing this and how can I treat it?

  • RABBITS: Question about my Tort Lionhead Jr Doe's color?

I raise Lionheads and Netherlands, focusing on Tortoise - Black Lionheads. My Jr doe has dark rings around her eyes, almost like a hotot's. None of my other Torts have the dark rings, she just recently developed them, and I am curious why she has them. She carries orange, broken orange, tort, pointed white - chocolate, sable point, and himilayan.

Any help is much appreciated. I can not provide current pictures, sorry.

  • Teaching my Lionhead Jr Doe to pose (help!)?

So I show and raise rabbits with ARBA and 4-H. My favorite Jr doe does not get the concept of posing. It's not that she's not upright, it's that she will not stay in pose once I take my hands away! She just slumps back down into sitting position and relaxes.

My doe is 3 months old, show weight (1 lb 12 oz) and a perfect example of the breed if not for the posing.

    Any techniques or suggestions?

    Thanks a million!

  • Help, pleaseplease help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Oh. My. God. It's 6:20 am I woke up around 5:50 am to find that on my left hand, in the exact same place on every finger, a rash or something was forming. I thought my hand just itched so I itched it until it hurt too bad. Now I have lumps the sizes of dimes, nickles, and quarters forming on the top left side of every finger. They're so big that I can fell them rising up over my knuckles, causing my fingers to swell. Now the finger tips are also beginning to swell up. It itches like a BAD mosquito bite, stings like a bee sting, and I swear it feels like it's burning! What is it and how do I treat it?
