Do You hate mexican music?

I do!!! I'm a first generation American born to mexican parents and I must say that I hate mexican music!!

Its stupid with no rhythm and lyrics are all based on misery and suffering and dying. No lie!! I can't stand it. Its horrible!! I hate the Accordion and I hate marriachi music. I hate that stupid cry that the marriachi makes!!!

The reason I post this question is because my dad is bumping that stupid music right now.

Update:

Jasmine... I could assure you that I'm gonna put a stop to that tradition. Sorry mom and dad but time for our roots to move in another direction.lol

    Hello,

No though some types of Mexican music I like better than others. The only music I cannot stand is American nasal yodelling country and western crying about tears in my beer and queers in my rear!

Each to their own I suppose.

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

Yes and no. Some mexican music i HATE. Like mariachi. But other Mexican music I think is the absolute SH!T. You just need to find the right kind. There are a lot of Mexican bands that play Latin guitar very well. Think of the soundtrack to the movie 'Deperados' or once Upon a Time In Mexico.

Some latin hip-hop is cool too. Check out Molotov or Ozomatli.

Source(s): Be proud of your Mexican heritage, Mexican culture can be really cool. I love mexican art and Dia De Los Muertos, and I am a white american from the south.

I live in Phoenix, in the hood.

A year ago, I lived in the hpood outside of D.C.

I can tell you that it is sooooo much better to hear my neighbors bumping Mexican folk ( I cant tell the differecne between Norteno, Campesina or Cumbias) Than gangster rap.

Everyone likes their folk music, because it is traditional, and in this day and age it is very important for people to feel like they can identify with their cultural traditions.

All good music is about pain and suffering.

you're ignorant. That's not the only Mexican type of music out there. There is the ranchera, banda, nortena, cumbias, mariachi, rock, etc. So you sound pretty racist by saying "mexican" music in your question. How bout just saying "mariachi" music and not "mexican" music, because you are totally stereotyping! That's like saying "i hate white people music, all they listen to is country" even though i know white people listen to a variety of music like different types of rock, country, metal, etc....

lol. I always hear it when my car stops next to Mexican lawn mowers. Sometimes the beat is catchy. But a lot of Mexican music sound the same. Same beats, same instruments.. Then about a minute into it someone screams or makes some noise lol.

    Source(s): I live in California.

Ive heard mexican music with no accordion and that stupid scream mariachi do! Now there's mexican rock, which is awesome, some ska, hip hop, is that what you mean when you say mexican music??

Two basic kinds of Mexican music that I know of.

    Classical styled, which I love.

Country (the one with the accordion) derived from German Polka, and I HATE it too.

Source(s): I grew up in a Mexican neighborhood. Heard that music all the time.

The ones I hate are "corridos" and "musica duranguense". I don't see how anyone can call that music. "Nortenas" are...eh.

I have nothing against mariachi or rancheras. Though I don't listen to those genres, they're tolerable. I'm guessing you're talking about regional mexican music as opposed to any type of music produced in mexico.

If you want some good music, listen to Mana. They're good (granted it's spanish rock, as in rock en espagnol).

That kind of music is the kind you have to grow up with liking since its very ethnic type music..everybody hates the music of there parents or anything that their parents like.

My dad used to play music like America or the gypsy kings, and I hated it, but now Im older and I think they are the best music ever lol!

Not all Mexican music is mariachi... there are some good pop and rock groups as well. If you want to listen to all types of music in Spanish there are all sorts of genres: Reggaetón, salsa, etc.

My favorite Mexican artist is Paulina Rubio. =)
