Kevin Durant's goal for the Thunder this season is to make the Play-Offs, is it possible?

They a got a few of the missing pieces this off-season, like a center (B.J. Mullins), a very athletic shooting guard(James Harden), Durantula and Jeff Green are improving, and the young team is starting to work together more.

Is this just a dream of Durantula in this tight western conference, or will the youth and athleticism beat older teams like the mavs down the stretch for that 8th spot?

Thoughts and opinions.

Update:

James Harden came in second with vertical leap, and said he wasn't athletic because he surprised so many people at the combine, but still doesn't think much of his athleticism.

They can make some major strides this year.

    PG- Russell Westbrook

    SG- James Harden

    SF- Kevin Durant

    PF- Jeff Green

    C- Nenad Krystic

4 of those players have all-star caliber talent, and Nenad is a very serviceable big man who plays within his role. I think they still have some hurdles to overcome with the West staying strong this year, but they have a great nucleus in place, and with some added bench depth in the future with their financial flexibility, they are going to be a team to reckon.

At best, they can challenge for the 8th seed, but I think that's a little out of reach for them. The Spurs, Mavs, Lakers, Blazers, Nuggets, Jazz are definate playoff locks, while the Suns, Warriors and Hornets have more talent potentially. But they are in the mix.

In about 2-3 years. OKC Thunder are not rebuilding but building their team. 2 years a go all they had was Kevin Durant, then they drafted talented PG Russel Westbrook, they then picked up C BJ Mullens to help inside and drafted another great player, SG James Harden. I think they now need another dominant big man PF to get boards and score inside.

the two adult adult males have an equivalent hazard of triumphing the scoring identify. Lebron could not play as many minutes if the Cavs are triumphing their video games fairly. on the different hand, if the scoring identify is significant to him, the Cavs could enable him play his established minutes. Durant's teammates will easily make a great unsleeping attempt to get him the scoring identify. additionally, warring parties could conspire to assist one guy or the different win the identify, in basic terms because it got here approximately whilst David Robinson gained the scoring identify from Shaq on the final day of the season with the help of being allowed to attain seventy one factors. EDIT: I could upload that the clarification the Spurs and Clippers conspired to get Robinson those seventy one factors on the main suitable day of the 1994 season (and thereby win the scoring identify for Robinson, narrowly over Shaq) grew to become into because of the fact Shaq grew to become into not nicely-enjoyed around the league in his early days. i don't comprehend that any team could conspire against Lebron or Durrant, the two one in all whom are nicely-enjoyed around on the instant's NBA.

Hmm, that is a very lofty goal. No one expected them to do anything last season, and they didn't. But aiming to make the playoffs this year I think is a very good challenge for that young team. I think they can do it, the West is going to be weaker this year with the collapse of the Rockets and Suns. I think the 8th spot will be open to anyone with 45 wins. Can the Thunder win more than they lose? That's a big challenge for them, but I like it.

It seems pretty possible. They have Durant, Russel Westbrook, Jeff Green, and James Harden. They have a nice young team and if not this season, next season.

I would say it's not entirely impossible for the 2010 season,

but at the same time it's gonna be very hard for them to reach

    that goal.

However in another 3 years, they're definitely gonna be

Championship contenders, with 4 out of 5 starters

within the Top five picks in their respective drafts.

In the west i got these 5 teams automatically going to the playoffs

    Lakers,

    Mavs

    Nuggets

    Spurs

    Portland

The other three teams arnt as obvious.

    Golden State

Utah? Maybe depends on what they do this off season.

The final seed ill give to the clippers. They became a good team really quickly. I think on the outside you got memphis, oklahoma and minnosita fighting for that eigth spot
