Am I translating this from political double-speak to English correctly?

Mark Sanford wrote an op-ed that ran today, apologizing, again, for his misdeeds. He is supposedly "humbled" and "more contrite."

Does "humbled" and "more contrite" = your PR flunkies telling you that your poll numbers have gone way down after your first lame "apology?"

Yes ... nice 'homey' words and phrases like that make you sound TRULY sorry.

The Party of 'Family Values' must be proud!

They were the first to point their hypocritical fingers at the Kennedys and Clinton but ... Mark Sanford, Rudy Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, John McCain, David Vitter, Larry Craig, Jim Ensign, Jim Gibbons etc can all be excused because when they are 'found out' they are 'contrite' and 'humbled' which makes it all better!

His next move, no doubt, will be finding Jesus and becoming "born again." Oh....wait a minute, it seems he has already sunken that far. His statement includes a mention of Micah 6:8. [see below]

    (New International Version)

8 He has showed you, O man, what is good.

And what does the LORD require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy

and to walk humbly with your God.

"Humble" and "more contrite" are just words. His actions speak louder.

Sanford needs to translate his apologies into substance and just resign already.

No I think it means he feels humble and more contrite. Everything isn't double speak, just when Obama talks.

Yeah. That's what it has meant when every other politician, from either side of the aisle, has said it before.

    Sounds about right.

He's so desperate now that he even spent quality time with his wife!

I'm a Republican and I wish he would just do the decent thing and go away.
