If your in the north pole, how will you know what direction is Cebu, New York or Madrid?

wait until someone walks pass...if that guy says "eh", then the direction he came from is the way to Cuba and New York.

Around the north pole, people use longitude directions. Cebu is 124 E longitude. New York is 74 W longitude. Madrid is 4 degree W.

To figure out where these directions are, they use GPS, or sun / star sightings (with a book giving sun/star directions for a date and time). For example, at noon GMT, the sun is pretty much at 0 degrees longitude (with some adjustments for the date).

A compass is not very reliable in the polar regions close the to magnetic pole.

Of course, the most important direction is the one they want to go in!

Well, everything is essentially south to begin with. Magnetic north pole is even south of there in the northern part of Canada. If you're really desperate to get to any of those places, I suggest starting with a GPS.
