what is a catalist converter? can it cause light colored smoke from the exhust or...?

have light colored smoke coming from exhust ever so often, usually when on freeway when coming to a slow then exceleraing again (like slowing down when exiting ramp then excelerating again after looping on ramp). i also have a high pitch sqeel when i first ostart car (especially in the mornings), and recently when i stopped after driving and parked, took key out, ect. i noticed all the water draining from the tank for te radiator fluid/water. once i filled it back up and drove again it didnt cntinue to drain though... any clue on what this could be or possibly related too.... perhaps a catalist cnvertor? someone randomly suggested at a gas station but i have no clue what that is or does.

The smoke from your exhaust is most likely from the catalytic converter. The ceramic material inside of them tends to break down after a while, and can clog up your exhaust (which is bad). The squeal you're hearing is probably just a worn belt, which is an easy and cheap fix. But it also could be you're water pump going out, and that's not an easy or cheap fix. That may be why you're fluid is draining like that. I would definitely have it checked out.

Your head gasket is leaking the smoke is burning coolant. The coolant bubbling out of the over flow is due to compreson presure from one of your cylinders. The converter takes Exhaust gases and turns the to water there are not any fluids in your converter it just cleans your exhaust
