Clomid is a great option for PCOS sufferers, especially in conjuction with Metformin. Clomid success is usually acheived within 6 cycles, with the average being within the first three. If you're not on Metformin and you find you haven't conceived after 3 cycles of Clomid, you should look into it. If you are on Metformin and find yourself not pregnant after 4 or 5 cycles of Clomid you should move on to a more aggressive treatment.

    Good luck!

ETA: Then between the Clomid and the Metformin you're in good shape. You just have to go through it now to see when you catch that golden eggie. If you ovulate on Clomid, you should see a BFP within 6 cycles. If not, they'll probably recommend moving on to injectables.

I have PCOS and took metformin for about a month before I started clomid. My first round of clomid (50mg) was a flop and I started my period on cd 19. My 2nd round of clomid (50mg) I got over stimulated and was not monitored properly and got pregnant with triplets.

When you have PCOS you should start off on the lowest dose of clomid (50mg) because you have an increased risk of becoming over stimulated which means you will produce a lot of follicles and it increases the chances of multiples. Some women 50mg is enough to make you ovulate, others will need to increase dosage to 100mg-150mg. And you should always be monitored closely. Your doctor should check for follicle production before you are due to ovulate. Clomid can be continued for 6 consecutive cycles. Depending on your doctor if after 3 rounds you have not ovulated, your doctor may recommend the hcg trigger shot on top of clomid.

Source(s): 31 weeks pregnant with triplets due to clomid.
