it sounds like it's ready to fall off. if you put anything on it, it should be rubbing or isopropyl alcohol.. they say there is nothing to be put on now days. the hospital puts the bluish stuff on, although alcohol helps dry things out. not to worry, it will fall off very soon. you will find it laying in her jammies or bed.. good luck

Don't use anything but a cotton ball or q tip and rubbing alcohol on it. It needs to breath and dry out in order to fall off. I would only try that for a day or two (as long as it doesn't seem to be bothering her) and if it doesn't change I would take her to her dr. No need for the er or anything. I would only be concerned about the bleeding if it is more than a few drops or so. I would say it is very close to coming off if anything.

That is right, the alcohol thing is outdated, I only suggested it for a day or two because it may help it start the drying process. After that I would leave it alone

Don't worry you did not hurt her. There are no nurve endings in it. My baby's umbilical cord fell off when he was I think 1 1/2 weeks old but it was because it was getting bloody and the hospital told me to clean it with alcohol but my doctor said not to. So the pediatritian got these long match looking sticks and rubbed them on his cord and it helped to dry it up. it fell off in about a day or two!!! Good Luck!!!

What color is the slimy stuff? I know if it is yellow or green that is infection. My kids had a clear slime looking appearance to it, but they were fine.

I used a Q tip to get into the little nooks, and crannies with the rubbing alcohol.

My first son his fell off during a diaper change, and with my second doctor went on ahead a gave it a tug to get it off. I would not have done that myself, but all is well with them.

I hope all is well with Lilly!

you really dont need to put anything on it at all. just keep cleaning it with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. i know people who saw that it was wiggly and just pulled it off by all means DO NOT do that!! just keep it clean and dry and it will fall off soon. i agree it should not look slimy or be bleeding. just try keeping it clean and it it does not clear itself up i would take your LO in to the doc

Just keep it clean and dry. :) And actually even putting alcohol on it is outdated. Most dr's are now saying to just keep it dry and leave it alone. I used alcohol on my first 2 kiddo's and it took about 3-4 weeks to fall off.. left it alone (and put goldenseal powder on it after birth) and it feel off in about 4 days.

it sounds like your baby is normal. when my babies cords fell off, it was exactly how you described it. just make sure you are cleaning it at every diaper change and it will be okay. I also used to fold down the front of the diaper so it doesn't get irritated. good luck!

just keep putting rubbing alcohol on it and take her to a DR. cuz it shouldn't have pus coming out. it could be infected so on the safe side take her

It sounds like it could be infected. This happens when it isn't cleaned properly. You should take her to see her doctor.
