Opinion on brake light on front of car.?
BTW I know it's not legal to do this. Just wanted to see what people thought of the idea.
I would like to know what people think of an idea, brake light on the front of cars. Reasons would be, if you are in fog and the car in front of you stops, then you have to stop, how do you know the car behind you is stopping. 4 way uncontrolled intersections. Various other reasons.

It sounds like a good idea but most people don't ever look in their rear-view mirror when they need to stop quickly, they are mostly looking in front on them.......

First of all, you have brake light in the rear so the person behind you will know when you are stopped. Second, if you are in fog and visibility is limited, why would you want to confuse the car in front of you the direction you are heading. The car may see the brake lights and assume it is the rear of the vehicle not knowing it is coming towards them. Third there are cars equipped with fog lights in front of them. You will see light coming towards you and should be aware of your surroundings. If you cannot see the car in front of you, then it is too foggy to be driving in the first place.

Only plausible reason for having brake lights in the front would be for pedestrians to know whether to continue walking or run out-of-the-way. Sometimes as I stop for pedestrians they can't tell if I am stopping or not and they wait until I completely stop. With front BR lights, pedestrians would see that I am executing my stop for them to cross the road, and begin doing so although I'm at some distance from them.

I just think that it would be a good idea full stop.
How many times have you been able to cross at a crossing, but waited to see if the cars will see the red light and stop. You would see their front brake light, and if it was on, you could safely walk.

Why would I need it? I'm not looking at the person behind me to see if they are stopping. As to the person coming at me, I don't care if they are stopped or stopping. If they are in my lane then they need to put on their hazard lights and find their own. Seeing a brake light would only make it worse, because I'd think they were heading the same way as me and they'd be slowing as they hit me.

there is a reason that we have red lights on the back and white one's on the front, same reason we have white number plates on the front and yellow ones on the back in the UK.
But your idea might hold some feasability if you had another coloured light on the front to indicate braking such as green or soemthing

The reason it is illegal is because cars coming the other way will view that as being a car travelling in the same direction, resulting in a headon smash.
You're concet would cause more fatalities than it wuld prevent.

You don't need a break light in front of your car there's no need for it... unless your'e stupid enough to try it.
