Nationality/origin of the surname Demish?
This was my mother's maiden name - I'm Italian and Hungarian(on my mother's side) - my grandfather was very Hungarian and died before I was born, so I'm not sure if he had anything else in him.
I was wondering if someone could tell me the meaning or origin of the name?
Greek? Hmm, I guess it's possible - since I know virtually nothing about that side of the family. My grandmother is directly out of Sicily - my grandpa could've been part Greek for all I know

Demish < Demis < Arthemis = Greek origin (name of an ancient goddess).
