Do the military police get any 'action' on the front line?

I am just wondering if the military police are sent to the front line in Afghanistan or other places. Do they get to fight, or are they way back out of the action on the barracks?

Thank you!

Below is an account of an MP squad in action in Iraq a couple of years ago. MPs have a combat role that most other soldiers never see.

At times they do...and the people that are saying that all they do is check ID's they have no idea what an MP is nor what the job is. I am married to a Army Military Police Officer, and he has been deployed 6 times in his many years of service, and he has seen action that many people ever get to see, and has sustained injuries from those missions. So to answer your question, yes they do get to see plenty of action, and no they don't go looking for it. And the ID check thing, are now done by Civilians now.

I'm not sure about other branches of the military, but the Security Police in the Air Force are deployed to maintain security of the flight line. It would be safe to assume that if the enemy approached the air field that they would engage in combat if necessary.

the two job types most in combat are infantry and mp's the mp's run patrols, check points, search and seizures. in layman's terms you can do anything from checking id's at the gate responding to 911 calls on a base to kicking in doors in the middle of Afghanistan or iraq so yes mp's do have the ability of getting into a lot of action

Not in the manner in which you are visualizing the front line. MPs aren't not combat arms soldiers. In Afghanistan they will guard bases, prisoners and they will protect convoys. In those capacities they could engage the enemy, but they are not going out looking for a fight.

No they dont see any action. Their main purpose is to watch over the servicemen while they are "out on the town" check id's guard the gates to the base and enforce military curfew if there is any

The only action they get is checking ID cards at the front gate, honestly.
