need benefit advice, panicking!?

So ok, i have recently been laid off work due to illness, (m.e.) and some other health issues i had to leave as it was making me ill, my partner and i have now split and she is moving out, but i need to stay where i currently am as it close to doctors etc. i pay £370 in rent atm, and i have no income

i have applied for disability living allowance currently waiting for their reply but what can i do with regards to the rent etc.. how much can i expect to recieve?

i dont want to sound scummy i have worked since i left school im not a scummer. wont go spending it on booze etc. im just trying to get by as life has been a bit harsh on me, so trying to deal with all of this whilst im ill is making it hard.

Any advice is appreciated.

I have applied for income support recently but no reply as of yet will that pay my rent? im worried that i will have no money for food etc..

thanks.

have you completed an application for housing benefit? the jobs and benefits office should have gave you one of these, dont panic as long as youve applied for this theyll backdate any housing benefit from the day you had your appointment for inc supp. and if you have no income I would imagine you should get full housing benefit Im not sure where you live? im guessing England? so im just going by how we do things in northern ire. explain to your landlord the situation to keep yourself right and keep ringing the benefits office about your income supprt and voice your concerns about your housing benefit they could maybe talk to the landlord for you. income support shouldnt take too long whereas ive heard the dla can take a lot longer sometimes months. And you dont sound like a scummer lol. at the end of the day thats why we pay our tax and national insurance for times like these its your money. Not meaning to offend anyone but why let some politician spend it on a phantom mortgage or hand it to some bloody foreigner thats just wandered into the country lol. If you are worried about having no money for food etc go to your office were you applied for inc supp and ask for a crisis loan to get you by until your allowance is sorted out. Dont panic it will all work itself out Ive been there I lost 2 jobs in 6 months with this damn credit crunch and with 2 small kids I was freaking out.

    good luck xx

Sorry about your situation. I was made redundant recently and went to job centre plus. It was a quick service and it may be good idea to talk to them too, I understand disability allowance may take longer due to the procedure of checking your medical condition with the doctors.

Don't worry about your rent, it will be back-dated from the date you first applied and you will also get cash for food. Good Luck, hope you get better soon.

If you can manage to go make an appointment with your local citizens advice bureau. They are great and are always on your side.

If you cannot visit them try emailing them.

Hope things get better for you soon!
