"If you were a player in the NHL" type question...?

I'm going to Arizona tomorrow for a week. I'm super excited! I've been there once for 2 weeks and it's so different than Pennsylvania, plus it's gorgeous where my aunt lives :)

My question: If you were a player in the NHL, and you had to choose a team to play for based ONLY on how much you enjoy the city, where would you be playing?

Update:

Good answers, guys.

Howler, i'll shoot you an email right now. I'm about to leave soon so i may not be able to send a long one.

Phoenix LA Anaheim San Jose since I prefer to live more in the Southwest quarter of the United States.

What part of Arizona may I ask?

Feel free to send me email anytime on what to do in AZ!

Have a safe trip and be prepared for the heat especially in the Valley of the Sun where the monsoon season has left Phoenix Metro pretty dry and next week is expected to climb back over 110 degrees.

Good question. If it was based off of the city alone. Hmm. Well, let me ask this,,,does the city have good fans? That does matter. Although building a fan base could be fun too. Off the top of my head I would have to go with a warm weather area. Los Angeles comes to my mind first because of the warmth, the ocean, and the Hollywood crowd. Second might be the Stars or the Coyotes. But historic cities from the north are great too. New York, Montreal, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, even Detroit. If I was a Canadian I might think about Detroit or Buffalo because they are located right on the border. I would still be close to home and in a wonderful city with fans that appreciate what I do on the ice. But NHL players go where the wins and money are. In all honesty, all 30 cities are wonderful cities. Just because when you watch bad teams on television and the seats are empty doesn't mean nobody likes the sport there. It just means the economy is tough and nobody wants to waste money on a loser team.

EDIT: I have never been to Vancouver, but everyone who ever has tells me it's very nice. I've seen pictures and I agree with them.

EDIT: Chicago has it's perks too. It is a beautiful city and has the WGN. That is a selling point. But you said just based off the city and my answer is still Los Angeles.

Lucky you! Have fun on your trip!

Well I think Toronto is a beautiful city so I would love to play there. Plus I live in Brampton anyways which is part of the GTA so I wouldn't even have to buy a new house. Giving a non biased opinion, then Calgary because it is close to Banff and I have always wanted to go there. Maybe Edmonton too but I think it would be TOO cold there. Vancouver also seems like a great city.

Out of American cities then I would love to play in the Big Apple or the Windy City. I've always wanted to visit those two places. I might have chose LA, San Jose or Anaheim too but I like living in a place with all 4 seasons. I want to live in a place where it gets snow.

    Boston.

No, I haven't been everywhere else, but I've done some traveling.

Culture, food, real hockey fans, history, beaches and mountains within a couple hours, good schools and great medical care.

NYC, LA, Chicago would be too big. Atlanta might be decent, but not ocean, Tampa and Florida, nice weather but fan base? DC? Hell no i'd probably go kill to many idiots on capital hill. Dallas, Columbus, Minnesota? Meh!

    Toronto.

I dont know if I could live without snow. haha. But think about if you play in toronto and you have a bad season or bad game they still love you. They have die hard fans, no matter what they still like you. Also Toronto has so much to do and is in good distance of things as well.

I haven't been to every city but I've been to a lot of them. I really can't say that I have a single preference but New York and Toronto would be interesting.

    San Jose

  • I'd be perfectly content to play in Pittsburgh, but I would't mind playing in New York, Chicago, or in Canada.

Toronto because it is at the center of the universe. There are no other answers because there are no other cities.
