Does anyone out there really know to what they are referring when they say "race card"?

It seems this term is bandied about in such a loosey-goosey way that the users can't possibly know what is actually meant by the words.

Tell me what YOU think it means!

It is an intellectually dshonest way of shutting down a disagreement by accusing someone of being a racist who disagrees with someone elses opinion about (pick anythng to do with affirmative action or policies affecting minorities). It's is like a Jewish person accusng someone of being an anti-semite if that person disagrees with Israeli actions in the Mid East or American policy favoring Israel. The person making the accusation doesn't have to intellectually defend their position in any way and puts the other person on the defensive in light of "political correctness'.

"Playing the race card is an idiomatic phrase that refers to the act of bringing the issue of race or racism into a debate, perhaps to obfuscate the matter. It is a metaphorical reference to card games in which a trump card may be used to gain an advantage."

It's a reference to an ace up one's sleeve. A card whipped out in trump. And race-baiters are throwing the term "racism" around in such a "loosey-goosey" manner that it diminishes any validity to the existence of actual racism. Hence the easy retort, "they're playing the race card again."

Stop playing it just because someone disagrees with you politically. There's real racism and you're making it worse.

It's the same. As calling someone a witch. Back in the colonial time. Also when Americans starting calling each other commies. During the Cold War.

What they all have in common. Is the fact that it's all about calling someone out. Based upon lies.

Most of those. Executed in the witch trials where not really witches. Most of those considered commies. Where not supporting the commies. Most racists today. Aren't entirely racists.

It's just history repeating it's self. Nothing new.

Remember the true quote however. "Those who usually call racist. Are usually racist themselves".

Notice how many racial stories. Are reporting out. From the liberal blue states. Something to ponder about.

    1. To play your race as an excuse

ex: Earl didn't want to make dinner, so he used the race card and said "Just cause i'm black doesn't mean i know how to fry a chicken WOMAN!"

    2. A challenge on the television show "The Amazing Race"

ex: Jim, Janice, you've reached the the checkpoint, RACE CARD GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!

The race card came with political correctness

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical

minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

An example would be someone making an argument against illegal immigration and the opposing side calling them a racist. That's playing the race card.

the race card is played when the opponent can't think of a viable contradiction to a discussion. Like when republicans state they don't like Obama because of policies and gives facts then I noticed some democrats (not all) throw in don't hate Obama because he is black. That is playing the race card unfortunately that usually ends the discussion before it even starts.

Race card is played when race is brought into an argument.

hi joey's it is a fox news and republican am talk radio thing, remember under clinton we heard race card on a daily basis, i think it refers to somone who uses their race as leverage,

the retarded thing it is usually powerful people who need no help are not using the card but just stating the obvious.

it is an attempt to use race to weaken their opposition.

have you seen this video, it is too telling of who uses race, pay attention to what the kids are saying.

I believe the "race card" means using a persons color or ethnicity to distract from the matter at hand by trying to turn the matter into a racial bias debate.
